I like pillow bearings as they are 'self aligning' [don't have to have each bearing EXACTLY on the same axis] ONLY con, they were about .0015" UNDER size, had to lap the shaft a bit to get it to fit. I bought two pairs for a cable dolly. The idea being to have the heavy roll sitting between two rods which turn freely using the PGN ball bearings. So far so good. they work nicely and are easy to align. The only problem is that they don't turn easily but are rather stiff. There are no instructions how to lubricate them and get them going easily. In the end I used a bit of lubricant for bicycle chains and that helped a little bit - but still not rotating as freely as expected. Update: I have ordered a grease gun and will amend if the situation changes ... show more

I took a chance on these based on reviews that mentioned these bearings are self-aligning. Perhaps they are, but the hole bored through the casting that the bearing is pressed into is obviously bored at an angle relative to the rest of the casting and not in line with the mounting holes. I would either need to mount the casting at an angle or hope the "self-aligning" internal ring of the bearing did not cause ball bearings to run out of the internal raceway causing wear and premature failure. Pulling and replacing bearings is chore enough without worrying about doing it again sooner than necessary due to early failure of the part you are installing. I decided I'm not risking it and returned them. Other than that, they appear to be of good quality and, if you can mount them slightly offset so the actual bearing itself is in line with the shaft, would probably work for you just fine. I don't have room to offset these on my brackets, so they are on their way back for a refund. I would be willing to try these again if I could confirm that they are being machined correctly or if I had an application with a little room to mount them at a slight angle. ... show more
