I have a Treeing Walker Coonhound. I love her to death, yet she can be quite aggressive on walks, pulling and lunging. I tried several collars before this, and was ready to try something more drastic, like a metal pronged collar, which I didn't want to try. I bought this after my wife made me watch the video. My dog was a 1yr old, 70lb lab 'puppy' when I got him. Totally untrained. He is now, almost 2yo and is 80lbs. His exuberance has taken me off my feet 3 times and nearly off 4 other times. My neighbor who also owns a high energy large dog recommended the Gentle Leader and, since I want to keep my teeth in my head, I figured I would give it a try. OMG it has given me the best walking experience in this past year. My back didn't hurt, I stayed upright, no jerking when he lunges, no pulling, no pain. My dog has been pulling for the 7 years that I have had her. She is 50 pounds and leans with all her might, this gentle leader has really helped in redirection and getting her attention. I am also training her by stopping every time she pulls and the combination is working wonderfully ! Very happy with this. I think it it helpful to put it on your dog a couple times inside so that they can get used to it before immediately going outside with it on, this seemed to help her come to terms with the new getup ... show more

My doggo does not appreciate being held back! She wants to go, go, go. She is a 61lb 2 year old lab, and is trained to not pull, but sometimes the puppy energy comes through. This product has been so effective in training her to keep heeling until released. Personally we feel this worked better than a harness since she has slipped every harness we've ever put her in. The inside is padded, so it does not appear as if she is in any discomfort (though she does want it off so she can be free!). Once she was trained, we started wearing a little looser to ensure her comfort. She does try to escape the lead, but this does not seem to be because of discomfort, just that she wants to not heel. ... show more
