Remember to replace these every few weeks depending on location and pet count.. I found they don't last more than about 3 weeks.. If I go a whole month the fountain starts to get slime building up around the pump. And remember to always pre-rinse your filters, otherwise you'll get carbon dust settling in the fountain. ... show more

even at my advanced age, i can detect what some...cats may not race to: carbon odor. This is not a criticism--I'm nit a cat...duh--but thing if there was a way to clean water for 2-3 weeks without the "evidence" of the agent, cats would form a 'pride' and flock to it. Meow
