Installarion in the stock distributor on a 1972 460 Lincoln was easy by following instructions and some YouTube videos. I used a relay to make sure the coil and Ignitor III get 12V when the ignition is on. The Lincoln has a resistor wire that drops the voltage to about 6.5V with the ignition on. I use the 6.5V from the resistor wire (ignition) to switch-on the relay. ... show more

Working great on my late '60's Ford 289. You have to by-pass the ballast resistor for the module. You can still run the coil from the ballast, just not the module. It has to see full voltage.

The item works well, was installed easily, and I like the adjustable RPM limit feature. It appears to be built well, and so far has functioned well in both cold and hot environments. The only drawback is the price, as they aren't giving these away. Overall a good purchase, and so much better than points! ... show more

I saw quite a few of these in my distributor business. You definitely have to follow the instructions and supply 12 V to the unit. You also have to be patient to wait for the lights to flash to make sure you get the rev limiter the way you want it. I’ve noticed people are impatient and say they don’t work when they actually do. Little tricky on that part. But for the money and the value of what you’re getting with the built-in rev limiter is tough to beat. It definitely does help the engine Performance for sure. Pretty tough little unit. Just make sure you get the matching coil to go with it. Fits great in the stock distributor and a little tough to beat the value ... show more

Pertronix ignitor III was super easy to install. I was expecting the idle to smooth out a little bit, but man, I was NOT expecting the overall gains I noticed from this thing. smoother idle, increased acceleration, and a steadier running engine at any rpm range. Also the rev limiter works great, very easy to use. I was hoping the range was a little lower than 4500 rpm, just to make sure I didn't take a chance over-revving, but it still works for sure. At the price I got it (somewhere around 120) this thing just can't be beat for an older engine that is still running mechanical ignition. ... show more

This one was easy to install and just works...really well. I used this instead of a high end MSD, etc. as it fits in the stock distributor and keeps that classic look under the hood. Also highly recommend using the Pertronix 2001 Ignition Power Relay Kit along with this product, which I did, as well as the Pertronix 44011 Flame-Thrower III Black 45,000 Volt 0.32 ohm Coil.
