  • Love at first stroke
Color: Black
As soon as I started writing with it, I was hooked. It just glides across the page. The ink flows out beautifully, and thick and thin lines are achieved with ease. And so far, no bleed through. I'm not pro when it comes to brush pens, but since I've started writing with them this year, I've accumulated quite a few (Sakura, Tombow, Faber-Castell), and this one is now at the top of my list. I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Perfect pen for lettering/modern calligraphy
Color: Black
I have a collection of Tombows (fudenosuke), Sakura and Kuretake pens and markers for lettering and just recently purchased this pen after hearing great things about it. IT IS MY FAVORITE, EVER. Why am I just discovering it now? The tombow fude soft tip has been my go-to for lettering modern calligraphy, as I prefer a more flexible tip (and find that the hard tip is just too stiff). This pen's tip is softer but still very sturdy. It writes amazingly smooth and is so inky, unlike the Tombows which I find dry out quickly, can be scratchy on paper, and are difficult to get clear upstrokes with. The tip is also nice for non-calligraphy lettering. Again, smooth, nice and inky. It makes transitions from thick to thin strokes seamless and somehow makes my handwriting look so much better. Caution: the ink doesn't dry immediately. The photo I've attached shows my fist's smudging of the lettering. I highly recommend this pen--it is a dream to write with! ... show more

  • Great for calligraphy
Color: Black
I’m trying to learn calligraphy and I was having a difficult time until I discovered these pens. What a HUGE difference this pen made! The flexible tip is a dream to write with! So smooth and easy to make the thin and thick brushstrokes. My seven year old granddaughter used my pen to create some artwork and practice cursive writing and she loved it, too. I ordered two more pens and I’m keeping one designated just for her so she doesn’t wear out the tips of my calligraphy pens. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Great for beginners!
Color: Black
I’m new to hand lettering/calligraphy but this pen makes practicing so much easier! I usually get very frustrated with pens because I struggle to use them correctly but this pen was made for beginners! Highly recommend. But caution! It takes a LONG time for the ink to dry, I’ve learned that the hard way like 5 times now! (Like, literally don’t touch it for 10-15 minutes!) ... show more

  • For fancy penmanship, not writing grocery lists
Color: Red
An artsy friend of mine loves these pens for hand-lettering cards and notes. After trying it out, I do appreciate the way the tip of the pen flexes against the page when you're drawing out long flourishes; varying the angle and pressure also gives you wider or finer lines. The tip has some kind of hard core but the end of it is flexible like a brush (notice in the photo I have "bent" it by applying more pressure). Now as for using this pen for "regular writing," I would say no to that. If I try to quickly jot notes using it, it feels scratchy against the paper and the ink is unevenly light and dark---a normal Flair felt-tip with a completely rigid point would be preferable. ... show more

  • Bleeds a little
Color: Black
This was one of 2 pens recommended by my beginning calligraphy instructor. Not sure why I went with this one, but since I had free shipping with Prime I ordered 2. They are easy to use and can give you a good thin line when needed, but I found that certain papers cause the ink to bleed/spread so that the thin line is thicker than intended. This was particularly true when I used templates that I printed at home using 24 wt paper (Advantage Premium White from Costco), and also when printed via Office Depot. It worked best at thin crisp lines on Caliber graph paper, as well as lined wide-ruled notebook paper. It seems the smoother the paper the crisper the line. ... show more

  • Great calligraphy pen for fine print
Color: Black
So easy to use, no inking is needed like the brush. The felt tip has just the right portion that is soft for writing. Wish I had one of these when I was a kid. Now I can write like a pro quickly.
