  • Great bike shorts!
Size: XX-Large Color: Black
Great fit and very comfortable.

  • Fit well. Padding decent but not Generous.
Size: Large Color: Black
Just bought a pair of these and did a 15 mile road ride. They were fairly comfortable. I wore out a couple of gel padded shorts and got these. Even though the padding in these shorts is thinner, the feel downtown is about the same. I have a fairly firm saddle and am ‘only’ 170 pounds. If you’re heavier, I can see where the pad might not be enough. I’m a senior; 170 pounds; 5’ 9”; normal male body distribution. I bought large and they fit pretty well. Possibly slightly tight but they are not uncomfortable. My hips measure slightly below the large in the sizing chart. Waist is within the large size. It seems like I’d be swimming in the extra large. Some reviewers have mentioned how long they are. In my case, 5’ 9”, the shorts extend down to about 3 inches above the knee. They are not too constricting at the bottoms as others have said (I have no fat on my legs, so YMMV). If you have proportionally shorter legs, I can see where these might hit your kneecaps. If you are a little fuller around the hips and waist for a 5’ 9” 170 pounder, large might be a bit tight. Reviewers mentioned the leg and waist bands are weak. That isn’t my impression. A woman reviewer wrote that there is a fold in the pad in exactly the wrong spot - center bottom if you get me. I can attest that her pair wasn’t a fluke. Mine had the same fold, which is fine for a man. The fold sort of went away so I guess women could roll the dice and wash them and hope for the best. I paid $45 for these and now they are $65. I’d say they are great for $45. When you get into the $65 range, there are other competitors to consider. So far, I’m happy with them. ... show more

  • Good value.
Size: Large Color: Black
I'm referring to "PEARL IZUMI Men's Quest Cycling Shorts, Padded & Breathable with Reflective Fabric". There seem to be variations of this product. I had a prior version with a pad that was thicker and a brighter blue in color. Recently I bought an L size (36" waist) and found it unexpectedly comfortable. The pad is thinner but more comfortable than the prior Pearl Izumi shorts I have used. The only complaint I have is that the fabric squeaks a little when it rubs against my saddle (a leather saddle) or against the bike frame when I stand over the top tube. I can live with that. I bought two additional pairs after riding the first pair for about a week. The fabric is also a lighter weight, so while durability might be a concern, it doesn't concern me. They look pretty well put together. For me, the comfort would cover a multitude of sins. ... show more

  • Worst PI product I ever purchased
Size: X-Large Color: Black
My closet is full of Pearl Izumi equipment. I have purchased other brands, but my favorites are always my PI shorts and in particular multi-function jackets. NOT THESE SHORTS! This is the worst piece of PI apparel I have ever purchased. It just looks and feels like it has been in a warehouse for ten years - or hanging in a display in the sun for multiple seasons. The tag says 2022 - which is not terribly long, but it feels like a worn-out piece of underwear. The legs are OK but the waist band has either lost or never had any tension. The logo looks like it has been either worn and washed a hundred times already. I am not ready to abandon the brand but I am not likely to order one online again. It is just too risky. Pearl Izumi, I am very sad and disappointed in this product. If this is what 'made with sustainable materials means' - I am so sorry - I just do not want one. ... show more

I've been riding Pearl Izumi shorts, jerseys and shoes for 15 years. They have always provided good products at an affordable price.

  • Pearl Izumi has really cut costs on this model
Size: Large Color: Black/Screaming Yellow
I've bought several Pearl Izumi bike shorts over the years, but it has been a few years since my previous purchase. So I ordered what I thought would be the comparable model to what I bought before (same price range). Well, this version is so much cheaper in build quality. The fabric is much thinner, the pad has NO gel whatsoever, just foam. Will it work? Sure, but not nearly the level of comfort as similarly-priced Pearl Izumi shorts in the past. Disappointed. ... show more

  • Not For Me
Size: X-Large Color: Black
Not the same as earlier Pearl Izumi padded shorts I still use. The material is thin, the padding is not good and the logo looked horrible. PI seems to have given up on quality.
