Bought this for a trip to Costa Rica. Have previously owned the Sea to Summit day pack which I loved bc it’s so lightweight and packs so small. But I’ve owned 2 and they both got tears in them pretty quickly on hikes bc of rock scrambling. Wanted to try something different/cheaper this time. Super happy with this backpack. It doesn’t fold up as small as the sea to summit but for me that hasn’t mattered at all. The material is thicker and feels stronger than the sea to summit but it’s still lightweight and foldable. I like that the style is of a regular backpack. The zippered pocket that the backpack folds into acts as a little zippered compartment inside the top area of the big part of the bag when it’s in backpack form. The mesh sides seem strong and is big enough for a full 750ml camelback. It doesn’t feel lopsided either with the water bottle in just one side if you have stuff in the main compartment. The mesh sides could be taller but water bottle hasn’t fallen out when worn. Also love that there are holders that keep the strap excess in place. The zippers are smooth YKK. The price is great. The straps are lightly padded and comfortable. I was originally going to wear a regular backpack as my carryon and take this as a hiking and day excursion bag but I actually just brought it as my carry on too. So using it for both. It’s a little smaller than a regular school backpack style but still fits a lot/enough. I used the Peak Gear foldable backpack during a month traveling around France and England. It’s around 20L (16x12x6in) and weighs 7.65 oz (217g). Unlike other lighter packs, it doesn’t get wrinkley and it’s comfortable for the whole day. It has 2 water bottle pockets so I used the second one for my sunglasses case or my umbrella, depending on the weather. It’s strong enough for a bottle of wine and groceries in addition to whatever else I was carrying. I think it looks nicer than the ones by backpacking/hiking companies and didn’t make me feel like I stood out in Paris or London. There is an internal pocket meant for a laptop or folders, but I found that by placing my wallet in that pocket, it was pretty much invisible when I opened the backpack, so that felt more secure. In addition to being my day pack for adventures, it was a lifesaver for carrying my groceries and other purchases from town to town on trains and buses. I wore it several times in light rain and it protected my things but I was never in a heavy downpour so I can’t attest to complete water proofing. I ended up checking my carry on bag when I returned home and it was perfect to use as my personal item for a few extra items I picked up along the way. *UPDATED* Original review- I have waited some time to write a product review because I wanted to thoroughly use and evaluate the bag. This is hands down the best item I have purchased in a long time! I am currently backpacking around the world and this is a great compact day pack! I love that the packing sac is attached to the bag and can be flipped inside out to be used as a pocket inside the main area (it has a double sided zipper). The bag is great quality, lightweight, and spacious. Are there smaller packable day packs out there? Yes. But for the quality and comfort, the extra space and weight in my bag, its worth it. I have noticed with other bags that the shoulder straps are flimsy and cut into your shoulders. The shoulder straps on this bag are extremely comfortable and do not dig in. They even have padding in them! It was important for me to find a bag that could fit my laptop in it. I can fit my 13 inch laptop in the main section of the pack with room to fit other items as well. It might be tough to fit a larger laptop in it though due to the dimensions. I also love that the bag had two mesh waterbottle sleeves. The mesh sleeves have some elastic and are able to stretch a bit. They easily fit a standard plastic waterbottle and slimmer reusable water bottles. I am not sure if they will fit a larger nalgene style bottle or not. This bag has been through the ringer and is holding up nicely! I have used it hiking as well and is a great bag for day hikes! Very comfortable! Washes well. The bag also comes with an optional location finder ID. I did not use these feature so am not able to comment on it. Overall this is a great packable day bag! I highly recommend! **updated February 2020** I am still in love with this bag! And it still receives 5 stars from me! I noticed after about 6 months of use, the inner lining (guessing the water resistance clear lining) started disintegrating and peeling off. This left the material less sturdy and started causing some rips. I'm not one to complain to a company or 'go to a manager in the store' , but since I loved this bag so much, I wanted to see if others who bought this were having similar problems, or to just make the company aware of this issue to help improve the product. So I contacted the company and they have absolutely AMAZING customer service! Responded promptly, informed me must be a defect (it happens -no biggy for me), apologized, and sent me a brand new one the very next day! After 3 years of daily use, I just bought another one to replace it. It’s held up well, just a tear in the mesh water bottle pocket. I use it as a ‘purse’. Use it in lieu of grocery bag. It’s light weight, super roomy-with two large sections inside. It’s not structured, so collapses down flat. Fits my iPad fine. Zippers are still fine. May not look ‘classy’ but it’s versatile and functional. ... show more

You can tell that this company cares about its products. It came in a very nice, thoughtful packaging that screams 'quality'. It came stuffed in its own pouch but I'm not sure if I want to stuff it back in for storage. Because the material is quite robust and not wrinkly like most cheaply made packable bags on Amazon, it will probably take some effort to fold and stuff itself back in its own pouch. It weighs almost nothing. I just lay it on top of everything else in my travel backpack. I used it in-flight to store all the things I may need like my 15-inch MacBook Pro (yes, it fits), headphone, tech pouch, and snacks. It holds its shape well and you can put a lot of stuff in it. I also used it during the trip while out and about shopping for things too. If you need a good quality day bag that weighs almost nothing and good looking to boot, I would highly recommend this bag. ... show more

This was perfect for my needs: Smaller than a full backpack but with actual space for some bulky items. Fits my large MacBook pro (laying in either direction) for carry-on use. Sturdy and water resistant. Lightweight and collapsable so I can pack it for later use on day trips. Some pockets but not a confusing abundance of them.     • Two years and it has detached
I have had this packable daypack for two years. For the most part it has been a good travel daypack. It has water bottle holders on each side. However if the daypack is full the water bottle mesh pockets are very tight. After two years of travel it has busted at the top rear of the day pack. It is hard to get back into its pocket and has never been as slim in the pocket, as they day it was received. While it has a small pocket just inside, which is also the same pocket it is packed into, that pocket is very small, hard to get into, not lined and the interior of it, has degraded over time. I wish it had a lined pocket for sunglasses. It doesn’t have a key clip, and not really any place for a carabiner to attach and solve that for you. ... show more
