  • Quality, Innovation
This pack is well made and has such handy features as pack strap and waist band stowage that gets those items out of the way, access to the main part of the pack from both the front and the back, zip pockets accessible from outside the bag, and zipper closures that make the challenge a little tougher for a thief. My only criticism is that it is a little on the heavy side. To me, though, the pluses outweighs the one minus. ... show more

  • So close to perfection
Pros: Large main pocket with small sub-pockets within Can use Peak Design insert system Great size for carry on backpack when flying. Will fit under the seat in front, but still large enough to bring meaningful gear Cons: Would love more small pockets accessible from the outside. If it had this it would be perfect. I want to be able to hold my sunglasses, some reading glasses and various things for travel on a plane. It can only fit a bit of this, meaning everything else is in the big pocket inside. To get anything (other than the laptop) out of that compartment means laying it flat and fully opening it. A bit clunky on a plane. I still prefer this over my smaller backpacks with lots of compartments, but I do wish it had another compartment or could be access from just the side. ... show more

  • Spacious but heavy
I like this bag but I wished it was lighter. The materials used are of good quality and the bag can hold a lot however, it is weighty when empty. Traveling around South East Asia when you have 7K (15lbs) carry on limit, this bag's weight takes 2.05K (4.5lbs) of that. Not much left for camera gear and a change of clothes. Carry the backpack is fine for me, I don't get any fatigue from the straps or from the weight of the items inside and this is without having to deploy the waist straps. I used the expansion space a couple of times when I need to load up the bag and it handled the extra stuff with no problem. It's a great travel bag that has served me well, hopefully when they redesign it, they will find a way to reduce the weight. ... show more

  • pricey but very well done bag.
i've got three trips on this bag so far and it's simply the best laptop-carrying travel backpack. this has replaced a long-lasting (20+year old) llbean travel backpack (which wasn't designed for laptops). it's really pricey but i figure this'll be the last one I'll ever need. i got the green model. (time to get away from black everything.) i carry a thickish dell precison 7550 and it fits with room to spare. the three capacity configurations have been perfect for my trips which ranged from 2-7 days. ymmv. I won't repeat all the great features others have mentioned and will only note small stuff that are *minor* misses: - the two snaps take some effort to engage. one was more difficult to use the first time. it's was easier since. - if you carry the bag by one of the side handles in the snapped configuration, expect the snap on that side to come undone. not surprising. -the pivoting and tuck-away ability of the shoulder and waist straps is kinda mind blowing. very cool but it'll take a little practice to be able to do it quickly. - the outside front compartment that opens downward and is secured with two magnets. only put stuff in there that that's flat and/or stuff you don't mind losing. i'd have preferred one or two snaps rather than magnets. ... show more

  • Great backpack... if you receive a new one
After researching travel backpacks leading up to a two-week trip to Europe, I purchased the Peak Design Travel 45L in Sage. The premium price, quality, and functionality paried with a lifetime warranty are what piqued my interest. When I received my bag, I tried it on partially loaded and noticed the left backpack strap loosened every time I took a step. I believe this is due to a manufacturing error as the right strap was tightening fine and stayed in place when moving. Then, I went to fill out my credentials in the included id card slot and to my surprise, someone's name and phone number were already in the pouch. I purchased a "new" bag that had been returned already, likely due to the same manufacturing error I was dealing with. Nonetheless, I didn't have time to return it so I jerry-rigged a fix by tying and safety pinning the strap into place and took the bag to Europe for my two-week trip. I'll list some of the best and worst parts of the bag. Pros: -carry-on compliment -expandable storage is great -pockets everywhere -tons of robust straps on all sides to carry and move the bag -expandable water bottle holders so you can fit a bottle even at capacity -ridged and comfortable back -super high-quality materials and zippers -expandable front pouch for more storage after capacity -exceptionally rugged and waterproof -concelable straps and magnets everywhere -definitely a good looking bag! Cons -while the main straps are great, the backpacking chest and waist straps are far from comfortable, I think they value looks over functionality here - so if you're going to be wearing this 24/7 make sure you're aware of that -no interior straps for compacting clothes like other travel backpacks -while the materials are amazing, they are heavier and add some weight - my bag was easily heavier than my brother's osprey bag which was significantly lighter at capacity -for me, receiving a previously returned item while paying full price In the end, I really had a good experience traveling with this bag because of the great functionality while looking good at the same time. If I didn't receive a defective and previously returned unit, I would have considered this a buy that would've lasted me a lifetime. I'm returning mine though because I feel like I've been wronged by paying full price for a used item - although i just may purchase it again for my next trip. Five stars if you don't run into the problems I had, but itโ€™s three stars for me. ... show more
