The example on the package shows a lot of detail, but none of the pictures I tried came out as nice. The actual upload process is very easy, and it automatically removes the background so there's no extra work for you. You can upload as many pictures as you want to find one you like, and it will show you a digitized example of what your painting will look like. The example is one of my dogs, and the color by number produced is complex even at a larger distance. I will say, the scanner doesn't like more complex patterns. I tried a few pictures of my tortie cat and they all came out a mess. I'm guessing brindle, merle, roaning, etc may have a similar effect. The materials are a good quality and there's a nice range in paint colors. This would make a great gift for artistic pet parents or kids. ... show more

I am so impressed by this production. It is very neatly packaged. The instructions for generating your paint-by-number template from a picture are very straightforward and easy. There are two pieces of thick, canvas paper included, so you do need to use your printer to print the template onto the paper, but it's very easy to do. There were lots of paint colors included, so even though I used a picture of my mostly white dog, the template was great at using different shading to show her angles. This "Paint Your Pet by Number" kit is such a cool idea! I've always wanted to try painting with a more realistic look to it, but I don't have a lot of artistic confidence. This makes it so easy! I uploaded a picture of my friend’s dog, and the website transformed it into a paint-by-number template. It was super easy to print onto the canvas provided in the kit. The kit comes with everything you need: the canvas, a good range of paint colors, and brushes. The instructions are clear and simple to follow. I'm really enjoying the process, and it's so satisfying to see my painting come together. I think this would make a fantastic gift for any pet lover.     • Nice kit. Easy to use website. Colors not always accurate.
This is a really fun kit that allows you to create a custom paint-by-number portrait of your pet. It includes a QR code that takes you to a site where you can upload your portrait. The site then shows you what the design will look like, both before and after colored in. It takes your photo and automatically removes the background so it is a portrait of just your pet. If you aren't happy with how it looks, you can keep trying different pictures until you find one you like. I tried it out on both a black cat and a gray and (mostly) white one. The mostly white cat's photo came out with a majority of light blue coded paint cells. The portraits are multi-dimensional, so the colors will vary to add depth and dimension. The completed canvases will likely look best when viewed from further away. I am just not sure how a cat that is painted with a light blue as the primary color will end up looking white. Again, you do have the option to keep trying different photos until you find one you like. Overall, this is a nice kit that will make a great gift for child and adult pet lovers alike! ... show more
