The frames are attached to the boots via metal plates and screws on the midsole of the shoe. The heel plate is flat vs the slightly contoured boot bottom, meaning the plate is very apparent when wearing the skates. We simply added some foam to the area to resolve the issue but I feel like this is something that should have been addressed at the manufacturing level. ... show more

I tried a long time to figure out which roller skates to get my 7 year old for her first ones. The candy-girl skates seem great but are a bit too expensive for something she'll grow out of. They only make one "adjustable" skate with the pineapple design but they were out of those when I went to buy. These are pretty sturdy, but most of all they are comfortable for a wider/high volume foot. I chose the size 4 even though my kid wears a 3 in shoes, because you can cinch them down with the laces and the canvas fabric is not as rigid as leather or fake suede. It's true these might not last as long as a $100 pair, but for $50 if I need to get a new pair in 2 years that's less painful. As far as a successful gift: my kid got them 1 week ago and she wears them all day long even around the house and to the dinner table!!! Maybe the most liked gift ever. ... show more

These are cute and my daughter loves the style. The only issue was the toe-stop came lose on both skates within the first week and my husband had to keep tightening it, and we eventually put in a piece of coat hanger where it screws into the skate to create a bit of support to be able to keep it from constantly loosening.
