Description

Size:Large | Style Name:Silicone Basting Happy with your basting brush but unhappy with how it retains odors and clumps when you clean it? Try the OXO Good Grips Silicone Basting Brush, which works like a natural bristle brush but with the added conveniences of heat resistance, odor resistance and cleanability. Multiple layers of silicone bristles tackle all tasks. Gaps in the center bristles hold liquid as you transfer sauce from the bowl to the work surface, and tapered outer bristles let you baste poultry and roasts with ease. The silicone bristles are heat resistant to 600 degrees F so you can baste in a hot pan or on the grill, and the angled Brush head keeps bristles off the countertop. Cleanup is easy in the dishwasher, and these bristles won't clump, frizz or retain odors.

I am not really sure how I feel about this product. I mean, it does its job but I don't know if it's the best basting brush ever. The brush strands are pretty large, especially the flat ones in the center and that's just a little awkward. I think that they work better without that middle piece because it feels like sometimes they can fling right back at you and splash some liquid; that's just me trying to be nit-picky though. The other thing is that it comes out kind of chalky colored after I wash it in the dishwasher, so I have to hand wash it; maybe I just have a sucky dishwasher thought. Ultimately it's a good product and I'm not going to replace it anytime soon. It does what it is meant to, but it's not the best one I've ever used. ... show more

  • Poorly made with handle that will easily break in half.

Bought this a few months ago, used it once and then it broke in 2 pieces. See pictures.

  • Best silicone brush I’ve found
Size: Large Style Name: Silicone Basting
I will start by saying that I really don’t like silicone brushes because I’ve found that most don’t really hold liquid in the bristles. This is by far the best one that I have used! It works well, not great, but much better than any others I’ve used. I still keep a bristle brush around but I use this where I am going to be putting it in contact with a hot item. I like to use the brush to oil up my cast iron when it’s nice and hot so this fills that need. ... show more

  • Cool Brush
Size: Large Style Name: Silicone Basting
I cannot say I love this thing, but I do like it. Why, because it will not melt until it get around 600 degrees. Why did I buy it?? I needed a brush that I could use to spread the seasoning oil in my cast iron skillets! I like to use them, wash them, then reheat them, and re-oil them, at a fairly high temp. I melted one brush doing this, and was resorting to using paper towels, which I still do, a lot, but I wanted a brush that could stand the heat, to spread the oil!! I check my skillets with an IR thermometer, at at temps over 500 degrees, this thing did not melt!! So, it is still in the kitchen, laying on top of my Mortor and Pestle. I also like the fact that it is bent up where the handle meets the brush, which, when laying on my stove top, does not touch the stove top!! Very nice little extra attention to detail that really works!! Having said all that, I have not used it as a basting device, so I have no idea how that part would be, but I am guessing it would be good.. ... show more

  • Underwhelmed by quality, but it does work.
Size: Large Style Name: Silicone Basting
I usually really like OXO products, but this one underwhelmed me. Nothing seems quite right with the design, but it gets the job done. I wish there were more silicon bristles, and the handle feels kind of cheap. Again, it does work---but it just leaves me wanting a better version of this tool.

  • Not just for Sauces and Marinades
Size: Large Style Name: Silicone Basting
Purchased primarily for Cast Iron Seasoning purposes because my old brush melted and had a tendency to lose bristles. This should be able to handle the heat if the description is correct stating they can withstand up to 600 deg. f.. I have used them to reapply oil to a few pans already during the seasoning process, and the brush does seem to withstand a lot of heat without loss of shape. I purchased two and the second one may end up in the garage/shop to sweep away hot metal shavings, to apply various solutions, or things of that nature. ... show more

  • Almost "pretty good."
Size: Large Style Name: Silicone Basting
In principle the brush is able to retain a reasonable reserve of liquid because of the "blades" and circular openings in the center of the brush. But there's just something about the "balance" of the tool when it's in your hand that lends an awkward feel - it never becomes the desired "an extention of your hand or arm" as any noteworthy brush does. Likewise, the handle does not lay well on the counter without tipping over. Ease of cleaning is a "plus," far better than a normal fiber brush. But the fundamental brushing on of whatever coating is being used, "almost pretty good" is the recurring feeling. ... show more

This is one of those kitchen tools that rated best of in those equipment testing ratings. I can see why. Works, clever design, I've not melted it, it doesn't mold, the head doesn't come off, I chunk it in the dishwasher. Yes go ahead and buy a basting brush. Trust me, you find uses for it if you don't already ... show more
