This is such a cute game! It’s even fun for the adults playing with their kids or grandkids. The parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles of our 4 year old granddaughter played this with her. We all had fun and she got the hang of it fast. It is well made, difficult enough to keep the attention of a child but not so hard they are bored or frustrated. Outfoxed! has quickly become a favorite in our house, especially with my five-year-old son. The game is easy to learn, engaging, and just the right length—each round takes about 15–20 minutes, which is perfect for young attention spans. What really stands out is how well the game introduces logical thinking and deduction in a fun, cooperative way. Kids learn to make simple calculations, eliminate possibilities, and make decisions together, all without feeling overwhelmed. There’s no reading required, and the rules are straightforward enough that kids can start playing almost immediately. We love that it’s fully cooperative—our whole family of four can play together, work as a team, and celebrate wins (or losses!) without frustration. So going to go over the different parts of this game and an overall review, but going to say that this little game is one of the best games to introduce gaming to a young child! Game overview: The game is cooperative deduction game, and uses a combination of clues with suspects who either have or do not have one of the objects in the clue. On your turn you decide if you are looking for suspects or clues, then you roll some custom dice three times trying to get all of the feet or eye symbols, if you don not a fox moves on a path towards his fox hole. The eyes allow you to flip over two suspects while the feet allow you to move as many spaces as feet. If you reach a clue you may place it on the device and then pull open the front panel which reveals either a green or white spot which means the thief either has or does not have the item. If you determine the thief before the fox figure reaches his whole. Components: The cards are of good quality, the custom dice are great, the board is clear and the revealing device works well! The only thing you may have to look out for is that the revealing device does require good lighting as the green and white background can be hard to differentiate in low light. Rules: The rules are clear, and it is easy to follow what to do on a turn. I will say that I have made one house rule for playing with kids who are younger, I let them choose eyes or feet after the first roll, so they have more success. Game length: The game plays quickly, about 30 minutes if all are engaged, high end 45 minutes. Complexity: This is slightly more complex than say candy Land or shoots and ladders, but would be around the same as Sorry or Guess Who. Teaching opportunities: The game provides opportunity to talk about deduction, odds, observations, turn taking, sequencing, and working with others. Overall: Obviously, this game is designed to play with kids, and that is why I rank it a 5 out of 5 here. The decision space is rich, the access is similar to other kids games and the technology to create a cooperative Guess Who is excellent! I would not expect too many adults to pull this off the shelf for their own game night, but for what it does for kids games it is a must buy for anyone with kids five years old and up! ... show more

I bought this after watching several positive YouTube reviews for the game. Our daughter turned five on Christmas Eve and I've been wanting some games that will challenge her mentally instead of giving her a win simply with dice or a spinner. (Seriously, spinner games are the worst!) This game... it kinda tackles that... Kinda. There are still dice, and there's a simple rule that states you have to declare your goal for the dice before you roll - you can't just go with what the dice gives you. This is the luck element, and it is the only thing that will dictate success or failure at the game. Success simply requires enough successful rolls to uncover and reveal the three clues which relate to your randomly-chosen "thief" at the beginning of the game, as well as revealing enough of the suspects until you find the one containing all three clues. You could get lucky and reveal the clues quickly, matching to a suspect revealed early in the game. Or you can have some nail-biters where the clues are revealed but the matching suspect is literally the last one left to flip over. Or you can botch enough rolls and lose. It helps that the game is cooperative, meaning that you don't feel as personally victimized by the luck. However, get a few older people around the table, and you might get someone blaming someone else for not getting enough successful rolls. The skill is simply understanding how to determine which of the suspects is innocent or guilty based on the clues revealed and the results from the clue-finding device (which itself is fun to work with.) To an adult this is a no-brainer, but to a five-year-old it's a bit more complex. The plus side - and the reason I ultimately like the game - is the sheer thrill a child experiences when they connect the dots and nail the thief. A few other notes: the game takes up a decent amount of real estate. The board is rather large, and you're required to lay 16 cards either around the board or otherwise nearby. This is in no way a complaint, but just a head's up - as far as kids games go, this one is rather large. Also, the cards feel a tad thin, and my daughter already bent one just sliding it into the clue-finder piece. The theme and gameplay might work for a young kid, but the cards won't stand up to a lot of abuse. In addition, the game arrived with the cards rubber-banded instead of the usual plastic wrap, meaning many of our cards were "marked" on arrival. The detective hats and fox pieces are a soft plastic that allow a little bending (which is good), and the dice are nicely printed with vibrant colors. All in all the game is a good, if not short-term addition to the collection; kids will find it much more replayable than adults (kids can even play solo if they wanted to), with a fun theme that lightly encourages teamwork, albeit with an inescapable element of luck. ... show more

I got this game at the recommendation of another grandparent. My 5 and 6 year old grandchildren loved it and we played it often during our week at the beach - and have already played again since we got home. We fudged on a few of the moving-the-game-pieces rules, but I can imagine that we'll get more 'by the book' as they get older. I love that it has the players cooperate to figure out who the culprit is! And the game is beautifully boxed and easy to put away, with a spot for every part. ... show more
