As is expected with Otterbox, the build quality is outstanding. The plastic feels just like otterbox’s other cases with the matte texture plastic and the styling fits in perfectly. The panel edges are all really smooth unlike the no-name 3rd party magsafe batteries you see on Amazon. I really like that this battery has magsafe on the back because I could attach my popsocket magsafe to it! The only problem was the strength of the magsafe that attaches to the phone itself. It would slip and slide on the smooth back of my Otterbox Symmetry case on iPhone 13 Pro. If you have a silicone case like the iPhone 12 Pro in the photos I’ve posted it stops the slip and sliding somewhat but it still slides off if you try to one-hand your phone. On the iPhone 13 pro the battery fits about a millimeter below the camera lip on the Symmetry case. Unfortunate side effect of that is when the battery twists the whole thing pops off. Would not recommend for symmetry case users on iPhone 13. The usb c to c cable it comes with is a bit too short if you like to charge off a wall adapter. I suspect Otterbox expects you to charge via the magsafe on the back. Wireless charging the battery itself takes quite a long time and it gets pretty warm. But it’s really handy if you’re the type of person who wants to just plop their battery on a charger at the end of the day. If the magnets were just a little bit stronger and the magsafe attachment to your phone had a bit of silicone to stop it from slipping around, I’d give a full 5 stars.

I’ve been excited to get my hands on this battery pack. It’s pretty much the only model to date that offers MagSafe connectivity on BOTH sides — on one side to charge your iPhone, on the other to charge the battery. Plus, of course, MagSafe isn’t limited to charging, you can also use a variety of other accessories with MagSafe! But there’s a few issues I can’t help but notice. 1. The magnets are too weak on the iPhone side of this battery. (They’re plenty strong on the otter box logo side of the battery, though) 2. The iPhone side of this battery doesn’t have a grippy texture like silicone does, for example, so it takes very little sheer force to remove. 3. The Magnets on the logo side of the battery are lower down than those on the iPhone side — this means that accessories like a wallet will not be properly aligned if you connect them to the battery, though a ring holder or pop socket will work just fine. 4. This probably won’t fit an iPhone 14 Pro when those come out, because it’s really close to the camera bump on the 13 Pro. I love the concept of this battery so much, though, that I’ve just ordered some magnets and an adhesive sheet of silicone so I can make the necessary design changes myself in order to make this battery better. If my mods are successful, I’ll probably update this review to show just how much better this battery could be. Just a couple design tweaks would make this the best battery pack on the market right now, and at it’s current price, it’s already a close contender.

This charger was almost THE ONE but it fell short because of the weak magnets. This review will compare this against the Apple Magsafe Battery and the Anker 622. CHARGING (GOOD) Unlike the Anker 622, the Otterbox battery charges at a similar rate to the Apple Magsafe Battery. It doesn't have the Magsafe animation when you attach this battery but it does claim that it supports magsafe charging at 7.5W and even goes up to 15W when plugged into a fast charger. Using an iPhone 13 Pro Max as a comparison: - Anker 622: 20% in 60 mins - Apple Magsafe Battery: 25% in 60 mins - Otterbox: 26% in 60 mins FEATURES (GOOD) What I particularly like about this Otterbox that doesn't exist in other charges is that you can charge this with another Magsafe charger! I can't overstate how useful this feature was. I was able to set up this battery to be attached to my desk Magsafe charging dock and attach my phone directly to it. With this setup, both my phone and my Otterbox battery were charging at the same time without using any unsightly wires. Whenever I needed the battery, I just grab the whole battery and I know that it was fully charged as well. Other advantages of this battery over the Apple battery were the power button and the battery indicator that allows you to check the battery life and decide when you want the battery to power the phone. One disadvantage this has over the Anker and Apple batteries is that it doesn't automatically turn on when you attach your phone to it. You'll have to remember to press the power button once to turn it on. DIMENSION AND SIZE (BAD) The Anker 622 was only marginally thicker than the Apple battery, but this Otterbox was significantly thicker than all those other batteries. It was even thicker than my iPhone with a hybrid TPU case on it. It is lighter than the Apple battery and the Anker 622. MAGNETS (VERY BAD) The deal breaker: the magnets. If you're buying a Magsafe battery, the least you would expect should be that it works as a Magsafe battery charger. This Otterbox battery has surprisingly weak magnets. At first, I thought the other reviews were exaggerating how bad it was, but I quickly found out how terrible it was. Not only does it not stay up straight, where the battery actually swivels all around the phone, making it hard to hold the phone with the battery attached to it; but it also releases the phone magnets very easily. With the Apple and Anker batteries, I was able to confidently pull out my phone from my pockets, knowing that the battery would be attached and that my phone won't fall off if I hold the batteries by itself. This Otterbox battery would fall off and be left in my pocket every time I pull my phone out. It would not have been as bad if it charged automatically every time I placed it back in my pocket, but the weak magnets also meant that you have to find the right “latch” point in order for the magnet to stick.

I like this product. I have mag safe case. It sticks to it. Only one side is magnetic. It charges my iPhone 12 Pro Max half way when it is dead.

You will not get a full charge out of this. You will barely get a partial charge from this device. Made my phone very hot and uncomfortable to hold and also only charged my phone about 23% more than what it was at. Definitely not worth the money.
