The Tempest 40 was designed with lightweight multi-day trips and travelers in mind. When navigating technical terrain, an injection-molded AirScape® backpanel and continuous-wrap harness and hipbelt move with you. This streamlined women's-specific pack features a separate sleeping bag compartment, zippered hip pockets, ice axe and trekking pole attachment points and reservoir sleeve. Constructed with high-quality bluesign®-approved recycled high-tenacity nylon with a PFC-free DWR coating; a sustainable build that's tough and durable to endure years of use. Integrated BioStretch seams offer maximum flexibility without sacrificing stability for dynamic body movement. Spacermesh over die-cut foam provides breathable, comfortable contact surface. This backpack is great! I was previously using a cheap one from Walmart but I found it difficult to adjust properly as my torso is so short. And this was causing back problems. This backpack adjusts perfectly. I have Hyperhidrosis, so I'm prone to extra sweating. The back of the backpack is very well designed and doesn't seem like it will be an issue as weather gets hotter. I'm not entirely sure I like the chest strap, but leaving it undone is not an issue, so it isn't a huge complaint. Probably the only things actually that I wish were a little different is the drawstring top, it's slightly difficult to maneuver. Especially if someone else is trying to get into the bag while it's on my back. And maybe more pockets.... But I'm really weird with organizing, so this may not be an issue for others. Great product! As a side note, I would not plan for more than a week treck with this pack, unless you already know how to pack minimally. ... show more

It is light, practical, and accessible. The only thing missing is the rain cover. If you are planning to buy it, don’t forget to buy the rain cover and you will ready to trek. Love this bag! I was worried about the bottom zipper getting worn and not holding up but it's super tough and thick and I don't see having any problems with it. I'm 5'7" and 125lbs and it fits like a dream.

I am an avid hiker, backpacker, and camper, and am a fan of Osprey's products. They have an excellent warranty and satisfaction guarantee. In fact, their treatment of their customers is one of the reasons for why I switched away from Gregory. This 40L backpack is suitable for those wanting to trek for 1-3 days in the wilderness. PROS - 100% satisfaction guarantee no matter what reason and for how long you have had the product. One of the reasons for why I am a big supporter of Osprey - Large capacity for 1-3 days - Great, bright purple color (my female friend loves it!) - Lumbar padding and strap adjustments at all the right places - Height-adjustable back plate and load-lifter straps - Bottom zipper to place your sleeping bag and exterior strap to hang the tent - Horizontal straps at 1/3 and 2/3 of the backpack height are available to pull the pack content closer to your body - Emergency whistle built into the sternum (chest) strap - Large waist pockets to store items for quick reach like snacks - Pocket for water hydration pack (reservoir not included) with a hook to hold it up - Mesh back to aid with air flow to keep the back cooler - Strong material - VERY Comfortable CONS - Pricey compared to Camelbak packs, but none really come with the feature set offered by this pack NOR the 100% satisfaction guarantee - Rain cover not included (which costs between $10-$20 alone) TIPS - The size of your backpack is based on your torso length. YouTube for a video clip or go to your local sporting good store for assistance - When putting on your backpack, follow this order: 1. Put the pack on, 2. Adjust the waist belt, 3. the Shoulder straps, 4. the Load-lifter straps, and finally the Chest strap. - You want the weight to be evenly distributed on your waist and shoulder. As you hike, your hip or shoulder may get tired, and you can adjust the straps to put more weight on one, then re-adjust to alternate back onto the other. From time to time, you may have to re-tighten your waist strap. - Test the feel and adjustments by putting heavy items into your backpack and walking around for a while. Get used to the feel before you head out onto your adventures. You really can't go wrong with an Osprey backpack (or Gregory). Choose the right look and feel for you as ultimately, you'll be traveling with it for days on end out in the wilderness. Easily the best system I own. In full disclosure, I own 14 Osprey Products!!! Why? Because of what you carry with you into the deadly wilderness fails, you fail. Failure might mean death. Most likely, it will mean nature and the wilderness wins. If you follow me and read my reviews you will know that I have a great appreciation for Osprey Products and their extraordinary quality and utility, yet they always seem to be awesome looking as well! Whoever designs the look of Osprey products is about fearless fashion mastery while being keenly mindful of the heartless deadly nature of nature. The Osprey warranty is the best in the industry because it is highly unlikely you will every need it, but on the so far outside chance that you do, no matter when, you simply send it back or send a photograph of the damage and they will either repair or replace the product post haste... No matter how long we are talking about. THAT is a company that has the highest confidence in their products. Second, for full disclosure, I have not been compensated for this review, and I own 14 or more Osprey products. All that said, I did not have this particular size and design so I ordered it and WOW!! The design and function is only exceeded by the product appearance appeal! Truly exquisite design and engineering delivered perfectly in every way. This size is perfectly suited for its design and there is no wasted or frivolous space. Utterly masterful in how Osprey always seem to get it right. Funny story, my Son purchased another brand when shopping for travel gear and he asked my impression of the two products; the other brand and the Osprey product. I recommended the Osprey product and yet, my Son purchased the other big name brand. While he isn't disappointed in that product, he is VERY envious of my Osprey products, so much so that I got him an awesome Osprey backpack and an Osprey Waist Pack and he is utterly flummoxed with the extraordinary quality and design. To be honest, so am I. Any of Osprey's products solve many problems and no matter your adventure, you will get there better and happier with Osprey's solutions, this being one of their very best!
