  • Great quality, VERY comfortable, but terrible design for water bladder.
Size: Large/X-Large Color: Eclipse Grey
We took a trip to 9 national parks a couple months ago, and used 4 different backpacks for a dozen or so hikes. These are the packs we used: this one (Osprey Talon 22), an Osprey Hikelite 18, a Gregory Swift 15, and a Mountainsmith Clear Creek 15. Although they were all very comfortable, this pack was the most comfortable. But, it had the worst water bladder holder design, by far. It's a great pack other than this, but after wrestling to get a 3L Osprey bladder in it, I was left wondering how this passed the design phase. Just the weight of the filled bladder caused the top of the pack where the clip secures, to greatly deform. Very funky. None of the other packs had this issue. The Osprey Hikelite 18 has a MUCH BETTER bladder holder design. It was the best of our 4 packs. Given the cost of this pack, and the fact that it did not come with a bladder, I would not purchase it again. I would have no hesitation to purchase any of the other 3 packs we used, again. For those wondering, as far as water bladders go, Osprey was the only one of the 4 we used that smelled and tasted horrible, even after multiple lemon juice washings. Gregory had the best water bladder design, in my opinion. Even the much cheaper Mountainsmith was better than the Osprey. The quality of these Osprey packs is excellent, but so were the Gregory and Mountainsmith, for much less money, and no hassles in getting the water bladders in and out. ... show more

  • Fantastic daypack
Size: Large/X-Large Color: Eclipse Grey
When planning an early-season hike in the Tetons, I realized I needed a sizable daypack with an ice axe loop. I bought this, intending to use it only on longer day hikes that required me to bring extra insulation, traction devices, and such. The suspension on this is so comfortable, however, that I now use it even for shorter hikes just to carry water bottles. I'm really glad I added this to my kit. ... show more

  • Awesome comfortable day pack
Size: Small/Medium Color: Cosmic Red
Super comfortable carry. Great features. Carries way better with a cooler pack than cheaper bags I have had. Also has sleeve for water bag. If you have the cash for it, it’s worth it IMHO.

  • Hiking in the Rockies
Size: Small/Medium Color: Stealth Black
Did a 4.5 mile hike near Palmer Lake, Colorado. The pack was very comfortable for the 2 or so hours I was walking. Stays close to the back and I sweat less than my other pack. The waist belt took some pressure off my back which I needed. And the pole holder works very well once you learn how to do it. ... show more

  • Great day pack

I use the pack for day hikes and really enjoy the comfort

  • The best
Size: Large/X-Large Color: Eclipse Grey
I've never owned a daypack that compares to this one. I'm tall-ish and broad-shouldered, so the many customizable adjustments this pack offers already put it far above other daypacks I've owned. The main difference I've noticed with most Osprey packs, though, is the waist straps. With other backpacks I've tried, especially daypacks, the waist straps often seem like an afterthought - something they threw into the design to check a box, but not very comfortable or well thought out. The waist straps on the Talon may be thinner than on my Atmos 50, but they're every bit as well designed and offer the same level of comfort. They fit perfectly and relieve so much weight from my shoulders without causing discomfort anywhere else. Using the chest strap is also comfortable and adds more stability. I've done some light trail running wearing the Talon without any issue or awkwardness. After loving my Atmos for so many years, I don't know why it took me this long to get an Osprey daypack. Can't recommend the Talon enough. ... show more

  • Best hiking backpack I've ever had
Size: Large/X-Large Color: Ceramic Blue
The Talon 22 is well made, comfortable, and versatile. I've hiked with it a few times already, and it has become my all-time favorite backpack overall. However, it is lacking in one area -- there are very few zipper pockets inside the main compartment. If like myself, you prefer to keep things organized inside your backpack, perhaps carry a smaller bag with zippers inside the main compartment. ... show more

  • Not really built for water bladder
Size: Small/Medium Color: Eclipse Grey
Overall, the pack is very well built and comfortable to use. I like the fact that you can stow and unstow your trekking poles without having to take off the pack itself. The big negative, unfortunately, is that inserting a full water bladder is kind of a fight. The opening is right behind the adjustment panel for the shoulder straps and is very narrow. You can't really get your hand / arm in there along with a full bladder in order to seat it correctly. You have to rely on gravity and some shaking. I wouldn't want to try and refill it while on the trail. ... show more
