  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Quality backpack stand could be better
Color: Black
This is a quality backpack, I've used this to and from work for about 4 months now and it really does expand a lot to be able to fit lots of gear. The additional divider for keeping your dirty shoes and clothes separate from your work gear is very useful for commuting and I've even used this to pack a small amount of climbing gear for an after work session. It definitely kept my climbing gear that's covered with chalk away from the rest of my work stuff that I don't want covered in chalk.. The built-in kickstand is certainly a desireable feature. Unfortunately, sometimes the backpack still falls over. If there's not a laptop in it, the weight is lopsided I don't think the kickstand works as well as on previous model of this pack. I've played around with the previous model and the kickstand definitely seems to work better but maybe the other person's pack which is an older model is just loaded differently. I use this pack every day and it has plenty of pocket and is easy to use while I don't use it for biking,The attachment to attach a blinking light is on the very bottom which is useful if you're on a bike. But if you set the pack down your lights probably going to hit the ground. Maybe I'm just using the wrong kind of light for this attachment point. would highly recommend ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Disappears on your back
Color: Black
Expensive but worth every penny. Well thought out backpack, has slots for laptop and iPad and an expandable internal pouch for your shoes. There is a thick spandex part I wasn’t sure what the purpose was for at first, but after a year of use and many recommendations to fellow riders, it is a pocket for a u lock. Off the bike no one knows this is an internal framed backpack that is meant for biking the helmet holder tucks away neatly and the rain cover works great in inclement weather.as a bonus, it is extra bright green and not hi vis yellow with a reflective osprey logo. Fully loaded, the backpack can hold everything I have needed to carry and have space for extras. The great part of the internal frame is that the body of the backpack doesn’t sit directly on your back and has airflow between the bag and your body keeping you a lot drier than most hydration packs/riding bags. The material is of a high quality and osprey knows their stuff. If you are on the fence, buy it. You won’t regret it ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable, holds a lot, but not perfect
Color: Black
For context - I travel mostly for work, and have a m good amount of cords and tech that go with me. Pros: the bag is super comfortable, even when loaded up. Walking through the airport, it makes it a breeze. The amount of stuff I can put into the bag is impressive. I care a laptop, iPad, a lot of cords, a hard headphone case, and a variety of other things I need. I can fit it all, plus I was able to fit a change of clothes. The garment/shoe pocket is nice to keep things separate and away from my gear, or from spilling out. The expandable area really adds a lot of capacity- however, when stuff, I had a little trouble getting it under the airline seat. The kick stand works great most of the time, unless your load is wonky, or not enough is in. Helpful though, but occasionally falls over. Overall this bag is great but… a few things I would like to change or could be better. I miss a side pocket for a bottle or to stash something quickly. It fits on the the open pocket in the front (the side away from your back). Pockets for stuff. There are a few small pockets, but not enough. There are two spots for pens. 3,we’ll call medium pockets, for a battery pack, business cards, and other items. It could use a little more organization. I have a grid it which helps with cords but that doesn’t solve everything. The waste strap, which is removable, is pretty small. I’m not big by any means, nor am I small, and I can just connect it with a little room to winch- and then it’s not comportable, just the strap. If you’re looking for a bag that can hold a good amount, is comfortable, and don’t need a lot of specific organization, this is a great bag. ... show more

  • 2.0 out of 5 stars Features are not executed well with this version
Color: Black
I purchased this pack to replace the Radial 34 model before this one. This is the 3rd version of the Radial I own (2 of the 34’s and a 35). I primarily use this for travel, going to the office, and short overnight trips. I like the features of the cycling version, as I can also use this to hit a grocery store on my bike. There was several reasons on why I was trying to make the change to this model that are noted below. In the month I have owned this bag I have gone on 3 trips, including one international. I determined last night; on my flight home I will no longer be using this bag. I will either sell it or give it away. The Good: * The size of 34L is perfect for my use cases * It has a luggage strap to attach to a roller bag, when you do not want to sling it on your back or when you are sitting at the airport. (this is one of the reasons for the purchase) >>> SEE Bad on this one. * Fewer pockets, to find and store things. Some are needed but not as many as I see on other bags. * Expandable size, zips to expand to full 34L size. Otherwise a little smaller. Nice to have when it is needed. (A reason why I made the purchase) * It has a frame to stand on its own (I like the feature) * The bag is not heavy * Fits under the seat on a plane. Yes, you lose some leg room, but I take it out and put it under my legs for most of the flight anyway. * Has a rain cover built in that gives you protection when you need it. (really nice to know it is there in a heavy storm) * Zipper extenders are a nice touch. They seem durable. * Adjustable strap for the shoulder for better resting on your back (a reason why I purchased) * Adjustable height button for shoulder strap. (Nice feature that is kind of hidden until you look at it) * Side shove it zip pocket is very handy * Mesh support to keep the bag off your back is nice. It provides airflow. * Sternum strap is nice. (A must for me. All 3 of the bags I own have this) * Waste strap to further secure it. (I do not use this at all) The Bad: * The material is flimsy and folds over easy and feels kind of cheap. My other models have a more durable material that do not fold like this one. This is a problem when the bag has a lot of stuff in it which causes items to fall out. * The zipper covers for the main pocket and the front phone/glasses pocket get caught in the zipper. Very annoying especially trying to get anything out in a timely manner. I thought I ripped the bag on more than one occasion trying to untangle it. * While this has a luggage strap, the location of the strap pulls the bag right into the handle of luggage causing the frame of the bag and the handle of your roller bag to sit tight. It actually makes it so you cannot get your fingers in between them easily. (this is a deal breaker) * It does not have an isolated pocket for a laptop, it has a sleeve with a Velcro closure in the main compartment. When the bag is full it is not easy to get your devices out at all. * The bend of the frame seems to be overly curved on mine, more than the older model of Radial. (I find myself trying to bend the frame to correct the issue but this has not worked) This impacts how the laptop sits in the bag. It makes the Velcro closure over the laptop and pad sleeve not close properly. The other model does not impact the laptop like this. This one pushes the laptop out, making the 2nd pocket for my ipad also push out which then limits the space into the rest of the compartment. It is more difficult than it needs to be to get either device. * The pocket for miscellaneous items like cards, pens, paper, etc. is too deep. The depth impacts the space in the main compartment as well. There is also no individual zip pocket to secure things like a work badge, business cards. Just a few slip pockets. The older version is half depth with an extra mesh pocket to secure stuff. * The frame expanded or not, does not fully support the bag. It falls over. My other bag does not do this. * The water bottle pocket has no loop to firmly hold the bottle in the pocket. My bottle fell out of this pocket, it never fell out of my other bag in the few years that I have owned it. * The shove it mesh pocket is not executed well with the bag. The helmet clip gets in the way. I tend to shove my phone or other stuff in there to hold temporarily. It is not user friendly with this bag. * The shoe/dirty clothes pocket in the main compartment pushes into the main compartment where the older version pushed the items outward not impacting the internal space. It did take a few trips to create this list and ultimately make me decide to move back into my other bag. If you want this bag, take a look at the other version of the Radial 34 and compare the features. ... show more
