  • Comfortable and fits me well
Color: Aurora Purple Style: Renn Backpacking Backpack
Height 5’ and weight 120lb. Used this bag for a 10-day backpacking the Tour du Mont Blanc. I barely felt the 20-lb weight while hiking long hours each day. Highly recommended!

  • Great beginner backpacking bag
Color: Aurora Purple Style: Renn Backpacking Backpack
I enjoyed the storage space in this bag, but the straps are not the most comfortable even when adjusted. For shorter trips, however, I would still highly recommend the bag. Great quality zippers and the rain cover comes in clutch.

  • Osprey Renn 50
Color: Cinder Grey Style: Renn Backpacking Backpack
I just received my Osprey Renn 50 backpack. I have not hiked with the pack yet, so this is just my initial impression of the pack. Until I pack it exactly as I would for a hike, I will not know exactly how it will feel on my back. I packed it with a three man tent, a pad, and a Klymit sheet to try it on. I did not find the torso adjustment hard to adjust at all. I changed the adjustment multiple times trying to find which setting worked best for me. I liked the two options for a bottle in the mesh pocket. I could easily remove my 32 oz. Gatorade bottle and put it back in the pocket; especially, using the horizontal opening. Walking inside, and outside in the yard, the bottle stayed in place. On some packs, it is harder for me to get my water bottle and to put it back in a side pocket. The pack did not feel obsessively big on my frame (in a good way). My head did not hit the back of the pack; the width worked well for me without more length. I like the way the pack sits off the back to allow ventilation. The airflow will be greatly appreciated if this pack is used in our high heat and humid summers. The chest strap adjustment is not on a slider. There are three adjustments loops. I have at times struggled to slide some chest strap adjustments to the point of having to remove my pack to use both hands to get the slider to move. The system on the Renn is easy to adjust; though, I sort of missed the fine tuning of the slider (though I don't miss the how hard the slider could be to get to slide). I, at first, did not think the Renn 50 had much internal space, until I realized the compression straps needed to be loosened; then, I found the space I thought should have been there! The load lifters do a good job of adjusting the carrying of the load. The sleeping bag compartment divider can be removed to allow for options for packing. The external sleeping pad straps allow for packing options. The rain cover is a nice feature. It can be untoggled from the inside of the pack to come completely unattached from the pack. I will rate it 5 stars, though it may be more of 4 stars for me right now until I can know for sure how comfortable it is carrying a load for miles. Dialing in a pack is a ever changing thing as the load changes due to water weight and settling of the load over time. As I walked in the yard with the pack on, the slight nuisances of how the pack wore were unnoticed when I began to look at the stars in the night sky and enjoy the stillness of the night. I believe the Renn 50 will be a pack that can meet my needs when I need a pack larger than a daypack. ... show more

  • You don’t even know you’re wearing it!
Color: Cinder Grey Style: Renn Backpacking Backpack
This is very light feeling and extremely well built! It was so comfortable I didn’t think about it while having it on. You will need to fit it to your body and once you do that you are good to go. NOTE: I have a severe orthopedic shoulder/back issues. This specific pack was recommended by my orthopedic doctor. This pack was perfect! It exceeded my expectations! I overpacked it my first time using it, 14 continuous hours on the trail. I am training for a 100 mile challenge. No bruises or sores. I did not size it to actually rest on my hips but just above them. I adjusted the tension on the chest strap and readjusted the tension as needed according to how my shoulders were feeling. I packed the items according to use and tried to balance the weight as I packed. The design of the pack seems to help distribute the overall weight of the load evenly. Excellent water resistance when I fell in the water at a water crossing (it comes with a nice durable rain cover) my items remained dry. I noticed the water just beaded off the pack when I got out of the water. It was a just a quick dip into the water, but I was impressed. I highly recommend this pack. Good luck on your adventures! ... show more

  • Love!!
Color: Aurora Purple Style: Renn Backpacking Backpack
I love this backpack so much!! It has amazing back support and the chest and waist straps really help to take the weight off your back. I’ve done several backpacking trips with this pack now and it’s holding up great. The rain cover came in clutch too. Would highly recommend!

Good bag for the value. Felt clunky at times and other models don’t but for this amount this is good quality.

  • Used for honeymoon and it was perfect
Color: Cinder Grey Style: Renn Backpacking Backpack
My husband and I went to Europe and the Maldives for our honeymoon. Being that we had many modes of transportation (flights, trains, buses, boats) I needed something that was sturdy and reliable. I was able to get around everywhere very easy and the bag is such quality I had no concerns stuffing it as much as I could with all my belongings. The zippers are super strong and all the compartments were great to help organize your stuff. Definitely loved it and this will be my form of luggage moving forward for domestic and international. ... show more
