Since Osprey was founded in 1974, every single product design has passed through the hands of owner and founder Mike Pfotenhauer, who created his first backpack at age 16. In Santa Cruz, California, the young entrepreneur opened a retail shop in the front of his rental house where backpackers and travelers came for custom-fit, made-to-order packs constructed over several days by Mike himself. As the demand for the great-fitting packs increased, Osprey found itself relocating to its current home in Southwest Colorado. I have tried a couple of different slings, Patagonia 8L Atom and the Northface Berkley Field bag. These are both good quality slings but they did not work for me, only right side cross body wear, openings that where hard to get into, little to no organization and a bit uncomfortable. I like the Osprey Daylite the best and will not be returning it. Here is why: 1. It is very lite weight. 2. It opens like a backpack, top center two zippers and it fully opens to about 3/4 of the length of the sling. The zippers are not covered with unnecessary folds and they have nice pulls that are easy to grip for an old guy like me. 3. Internal organization pocket with zippered internal compartment with key ring lanyard. 4. Internal slip pocket for a phone, I Phone or Samsung will easily fit. I also keep a Moleskine note book, 4"x7" in there. 5. Because the sling opens like a backpack, I can also get most standard hardback books in the main compartment. 6. The front compartment fits two pairs of glasses, in the case, wallet, keys and hand sanitizer and a pen. 7. Shoulder strap attaches on the bottom of the sling for left or right cross body wear and there is a small stretch pocket at the top of the shoulder strap although I don't use it, it is very small. 8. The inside of the sling is a lite color so things don't disappear so to speak. So for the price and quality it works for me daily and for travel. Simple, smart design.

It’s big enough to fit my wallet, phone, water bottle, keys, and a snack. Great for traveling and day hikes. Great for carrying for long walks in the city as well. Can be worn in front for greater security. Well made as are all Osprey products. I love it.

If you need a daily sling bag that not to bulky and looks good this is it! Great size for the essentials with room to spare. Don’t expect to fit lunch in there unless it’s something smashable. Great product!

Waited a LONG time for this sling to ship and when it did I had mixed emotions. I slimmed down my everyday bag and wanted something smaller to put my wallet, medication, keys and phone in. Size: great for everyday/travel use. It pretty much stays flat unless you have alot of stuff in the sling. Pockets were great. PRO: This sling can be worn over the left or right shoulder as it has mini carabiner type clips at the end of the straps and a ribbon type of material on both "bottoms" to attach. Quality is the standard Osprey five star. CON: It can be worn front facing (which I prefer) however, the sling perfers to be a back facing and will slowly go there during the course of the day (which I don't perfer.) Sadly, had to return because this sling won the battle of being a back facing. Not taking anything from the Osprey brand.

I have a G4Free sling and I love it, but it's too small to hold my 10.4" tablet. Thus, I decided to try the Osprey. It's a very high quality sling bag. It has plenty of space for my needs. The material is much thicker and tougher than the G4Free. The G4Free on the other hand has an outside mesh pocket, which I miss on the Osprey. However, the front pocket works just fine for a small water bottle. The Daylite is very high quality and appears that it will hold up for the long haul. It's very comfy and has some padding on the inside. It's very water resistant and you won't have to worry about getting you gear wet in rain. I'd be cautious in a downpour, however. This pack isn't designed to carry a tablet, but for my needs when I occasionally carry my tablet it works great. It fits with the case on too. This essentially acts as my daily use and dad bag (kid supplies - snacks, hand wipes, etc.). It's a great little bag and I highly recommend it.

Great bag! Good size and feels very durable. There are cheaper ones out there, but not sure they will stand up over the long haul to daily usage. You can go cheaper but will probably have to buy multiple times over the life of this bag. Would make a great Chelristmas gift

This is the first sling bag I’ve tried that stays in the middle of my back and doesn’t slide down out of position. It is on the more compact size being 6L, but it fit everything I would normally haul around in my purse. I like the pockets inside for organization and the key clip. The interior lining appears to be water resistant which is an added bonus. I was worried about both zippers going completely around the pack. If I need something out of a sling bag, move the bag around to the side, while it’s on my body and unzip. I was worried about everything falling out of this bag and it didn’t. It’s easy to unzip the bag halfway to access what you need without everything falling out. The zipper holds its place when partially unzipped. The bag can be worn over either shoulder by moving the clip attachment, which is nice. When you adjust the length of the strap to fit your body, it stays in place. Other sling bags I’ve owned I was always pulling the strap the keep the bag in the middle of my back. Not an issue with this bag. The fabric is durable, just like the rest of the Osprey packs and I think this bag will last for years and years. I recommend this bag because it’s comfortable, durable and not too bulky.
