  • One of the best backpacks and brands
Size: Large/X-Large Color: Eclipse Grey
I am an avid hiker, backpacker, and camper, and am a fan of Osprey's products. They have an excellent warranty and satisfaction guarantee. In fact, their treatment of their customers is one of the reasons for why I switched away from Gregory. This 70L backpack is suitable for those wanting to trek for 3-5 days in the wilderness. A 55L would be good for 1-3 days. PROS - 100% satisfaction lifetime guarantee no matter what reason and for how long you have had the product. One of the reasons for why I am a big supporter of Osprey - Large capacity for 3-5 days - Included, neon-green rain cover (which costs between $10-$20 alone) - Lumbar padding and strap adjustments at all the right places - Height-adjustable back plate and load-lifter straps - Bottom zipper to place your sleeping bag and exterior strap to hang the tent - Horizontal straps at 1/3 and 2/3 of the backpack height are available to pull the pack content closer to your body - Emergency whistle built into the sternum (chest) strap - Large waist pockets to store items for quick reach like snacks - Pocket for water hydration pack (reservoir not included) with a hook to hold it up - Mesh back to aid with air flow to keep the back cooler - Strong material - VERY Comfortable - Multiple compartments and side mesh pockets - Trekking pole holder between left strap and left side of backpack for quick access and storage - Top portion can be removed and used as a waterproof day pack - Main backpack also functions independently without the top portion. It can quickly be converted to become waterproof itself CONS - Pricey compared to Camelbak packs, but none really come with the feature set offered by this pack NOR the 100% satisfaction guarantee TIPS - The size of your backpack is based on your torso length. YouTube for a video clip or go to your local sporting good store for assistance - When putting on your backpack, follow this order: 1. Put the pack on, 2. Adjust the waist belt, 3. the Shoulder straps, 4. the Load-lifter straps, and finally the Chest strap. - You want the weight to be evenly distributed on your waist and shoulder. As you hike, your hip or shoulder may get tired, and you can adjust the straps to put more weight on one, then re-adjust to alternate back onto the other. From time to time, you may have to re-tighten your waist strap. - Test the feel and adjustments by putting heavy items into your backpack and walking around for a while. Get used to the feel before you head out onto your adventures. You really can't go wrong with an Osprey backpack (or Gregory). Choose the right look and feel for you as ultimately, you'll be traveling with it for days on end out in the wilderness. You do not want to be stuck out with an uncomfortable or inadequate backpack. ... show more

  • Overkill but in a good way
Size: Large/X-Large Color: Black
This bag is overkill. It has every nook and feature you can ask for in a backpack. Its carries weight like a beast. 40 pounds feels like 25. Its one damn expensive bag but its worth every cent

  • Osprey Nailed Comfort & Design With This Backpack!
Size: Large/X-Large Color: Axo Green
I own a few backpacking packs from the likes of Thule and Jack Wolfskin but know Osprey more for their excellent hydration packs than anything else. Osprey nailed a great midrange load pack with the Aether Plus 70! I haven't spent as much time backpacking this summer as I'd like but have a few long(ish) excursions planned for the cooler fall months and the Aether is going to be my pack of choice. Over the summer I used the Aether on a few local hikes and I'm a fan. Osprey nailed the design and comfort factor with the Aether Plus 70, probably the two most important factors a pack can have. ►Comfort, Fit, Design: There are a ton of features and even more to like with the Aether Plus 70 so let me start with the fit and comfort factor. I'm 5'10" and have the Plus 70 in the Large/X-Large size and the pack fits perfectly. That's largely do to the adjustable shoulder straps and hip belt. Both are very easy to adjust using some neatly hidden Velcro straps. You simply undo the Velcro, pull or push the straps to your liking and reattach the Velcro and done! The pack features a nice amount of padding and a rigid frame to keep things comfortable and distribute the load to the hip belt. I should also mention that the back features a mesh design to help keep air moving and your back dry! My area is super hot in the summer so that's a very much appreciated feature. ►Features, features, features: The Aether Plus 70 has plenty of storage and I managed to fit all my essentials in two overnight excursions - solo tent, sleeping bag, spare clothes, food, spare lights, battery pack... all the backpacking necessities without much fuss or the pack looking like it was going to burst open. Osprey did a great job designing a pack that's user friendly and the Aether Plus 70 has plenty of storage options for everything from the main compartment for large things you'll only need to access occasionally to on-the-go pockets for snacks, rain coat, and whatever else. There's also a built-in compartment for a hydration bladder. This pack also has an integrated removable daypack for short excursions that don't require the full size pack which is a phenomenal feature, albeit one I haven't made good use of yet. ►Closing: This is a pricey backpack but the combination of excellent design, comfort, features and materials is fantastic. Definitely a pack that will see a lot of use from me. Recommended! ... show more
