I used an older version of this pack for my thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail in 2014. I had originally started with a very well-known ultra-lite backpack which became too uncomfortable. So I switched to another UL pack that also was too uncomfortable after a week of using it. No matter how I adjusted them, I ended up with a store back and bruises on my hips. I switched to my Osprey at Lone Pine before entering the High Sierras. It was the heaviest my pack got on the entire 2,660 miles (just over 50 lbs) due to having to carry ice gear, bear canister, and 9 days worth of food. Yet, it was by far more comfortable than either UL pack despite it's heavier weight. Once I completed the High Sierras, I continued to use my Osprey because of the comfort. All told, I hiked with it for nearly 2,000 miles over 4 months. As for it's durability, Osprey came out with a new version of the pack right before I started the hike that had pockets on the front of the hip belt, something mine didn't have. I thought if I could wear the pack out in one or two places by being rough with it, I'd be able to trade it in for a new one. But even my abusive handling of it for this 2,000 miles, I couldn't ruin any part of the pack. All-in-all, the quality build of the pack along with the carrying capacity and exceptional comfort make this pack my go-to in every multi-day hike. Sure, there are lighter packs out there, but if much rather carry the extra pound this pack weighs and be comfortable than be in pain and struggling all the time. One last comment: after getting to North Kennedy Meadows, I averaged 33 miles of hiking or day using this pack until I got to Canada (over 1,500 miles), mainly because I was comfortable and having a great time, thanks in large part to using this pack! ... show more

Overall the pack performed as promised. Never had a problem with weight distribution. The adjustable waist strap was very comfortable on long days. The shoulder strap comfort was fine. It was a tad uncomfortable at times but it might just be an adjustment that needs to be made. I used this pack on a 8 day/7 night trip across the Bob Marshall Wilderness covering 85+ miles. The rain fly works just fine. Zippers on the waist strap can be a little difficult to close while wearing the pack. Everything held up to expectations. It’s a solid pack. ... show more

Frame is unbelievable. This is a very well crafted 65L pack. I backpack for weeks at a time and it has never let me down once. Never have I found myself re-adjusting either. Perfect adjustments. If you find yourself in the mountains a lot. It’s worth the money.

I returned this bag as I wanted a regular hiking backpack. This might be great for backpacking trip but for a day hike it is not the right choice. It was bulky and felt very heavy on shoulders.

Easily the best system I own. In full disclosure, I own 14 Osprey Products!!! Why? Because of what you carry with you into the deadly wilderness fails, you fail. Failure might mean death. Most likely, it will mean nature and the wilderness wins. If you follow me and read my reviews you will know that I have a great appreciation for Osprey Products and their extraordinary quality and utility, yet they always seem to be awesome looking as well! Whoever designs the look of Osprey products is about fearless fashion mastery while being keenly mindful of the heartless deadly nature of nature. The Osprey warranty is the best in the industry because it is highly unlikely you will every need it, but on the so far outside chance that you do, no matter when, you simply send it back or send a photograph of the damage and they will either repair or replace the product post haste... No matter how long we are talking about. THAT is a company that has the highest confidence in their products. Second, for full disclosure, I have not been compensated for this review, and I own 14 or more Osprey products. All that said, I did not have this particular size and design so I ordered it and WOW!! The design and function is only exceeded by the product appearance appeal! Truly exquisite design and engineering delivered perfectly in every way. This size is perfectly suited for its design and there is no wasted or frivolous space. Utterly masterful in how Osprey always seem to get it right. Funny story, my Son purchased another brand when shopping for travel gear and he asked my impression of the two products; the other brand and the Osprey product. I recommended the Osprey product and yet, my Son purchased the other big name brand. While he isn't disappointed in that product, he is VERY envious of my Osprey products, so much so that I got him an awesome Osprey backpack and an Osprey Waist Pack and he is utterly flummoxed with the extraordinary quality and design.
