Weighing in at about 5-1/2 pounds, this safe is pretty solid. It can be mounted to a hard surface through two screw/bolt holes in the bottom of the case, or can be secured with the enclosed cable to something solid. Access is available by three different methods...traditional key (keep these secure somewhere else, of course), number combination inputted by keypad, and fingerprint. All three work well and are easy to set up by following the included instructions. The fingerprint recognition set on the first try for three different fingers. I could have done all ten (maybe I will), as it will hold multiple print sets, so you can give other approved users, such as family members, access. The numerical keypad only goes up to 5, and I wanted to have the number 6 as part of my code. I solved this by inputting 3 twice where I would have put the 6. The string of numbers you can set as your code is variable. Four AA alkaline batteries (not included) power the mechanisms, and there is an external USB power input in case of battery failure. There is an internal blue light that turns on when the case is opened. I might have preferred red. The case will easily hold two pistols. It is NOT a fireproof or waterproof case. ... show more

The safe is a good size for a handgun and a few magazines / ammo. It has 5 buttons for the numbers 1 through 5 and an OK button on the front. On this, you must make up an access pin code of 5 to 15 digits. You also have a fingerprint reader in the middle. And an emergency (i.e. the internal batteries are. dead) USB-C port in which you can plug either a USB-C charger cable or a portable phone battery with a USB-C cable. I tried it by removing one of the internal batteries then locking the safe. The emergency battery works as expected. The box comes with a lock cable and two screws allowing you to screw the safe to a surface or us a lock cable to pass around something (like you do when locking a bicycle). While this is called a "SAFE", it's really just a lock box. It will meet all the legal requirements of due diligence but if someone comes at it with a crow bar, it will open in 1 minute or less. And that's perfectly fine. If you want a real SAFE, then you'll get something much lager, much heavier and heftier that won't fit on your night stand. A few minor things I think would make this a better offering. 1) Requiring a 5 digit pin is a bit long. I would personally have prefered 4. Considering that many basic lock boxes require only 3, it's clear that 4 would have been acceptable. 2) You want to use a PIN code that you already know and possibly use elsewhere. It's not the time to get creative and the day you need to use your gun in an emergency you can't remember the pin code! Again, 4 digits would have been useful. We all know our Mom's address or some such thing that only you know about around your household. 3) Only digits from 1-5... I ended up making my own labels to stick over the original digits. The old 1 is now: 1 / 6 2 is now 2 / 7 3. is 3 / 8 4. is 4 / 9 5. is 5 / 0 This way I can now use a PIN that has numbers from 0 through 9 (i.e. Mom's address!!!) 4) It would have been useful to have instructions on the back or bottom of the box on how to deal with the emergency battery port. You *KNOW* that 99% of the people will store the instruction manual INSIDE the safe LOL. So instruction on how to open it when the batteries are dead would be useful outside the safe! 5) Finally, why not simply have the battery compartment on the OUTSIDE of the safe??? Instead of having another "special" emergency port.... Everybody would intuitively understand and know how to remedy the situation.... open the little door and change the batteries. Despite the little quirks, this gun safe box does the job it's meant to do well enough. I would not hesitate to recommend it. ... show more

I was honestly surprised at the overall quality of this gun safe. It was packaged very professionally, includes everything needed, and has a well written instruction booklet. You get 2 keys which is always a plus and the programming process was very easy for both numerical code entry and fingerprint. If there was one part I thought would likely be problematic that was the fingerprint access as most lower price point vaults have less than reliable readers. To my surprise, that was absolutely not the case with this vault. It programmed in one attempt and worked right off the bat. It also works quickly with the number code. A nice added feature is the blue LED interior light which allows you to see inside in total darkness without illuminating the rest of the room. Keep in mind this is more of a secure storage box rather than an actual "safe", something true of all of these things regardless of brand. Despite being well packaged and overall in good condition, the safe I received did arrive scuffed, as shown in my images. Luckily the scuff marks wiped away easily and there doesn't seem to be any actual damage to the safe. I like the fact that it allows backup access with a key. That's very important to me. I also love that it comes with a cable anchor because, let's face it, this thin sheet metal isn't going to stop someone if they can get the safe out of your house and into a workshop. The only real con of this safe are that it only has 5 digits for passkey generation and entry. Really limits the options for choosing a passkey, birthdays, dates, ATM pins, etc tend to have 6-9 or especially 0 in them somewhere.. So you may need to get creative coming up with a pin number. I don't have a great memory, so I had to dock it a star for this. Luckily there is still a key backup if your fingers are messy/wet/dirty. Overall this is an improvement over the plastic container with a padlock that I was using previously and for the price seems like a good deal. ... show more

Perfect size for my living room side table (bottom shelf). EASILY fits two compact pistols or one plus two magazines (room to spare). Functionally, works as you'd expect: finger print reads fast and reliably (even from slightly rotated angels) and the number buttons are large/separated enough to insure proper operation (even under duress). The lid fitment is tight and should survive most tampering (can't get a fingernail to catch). Really appreciate that you can mute the beeps (helpful in the event of a home intrusion) and the interior LED light to reduce fumbling in the dark.
