This box did an OK job. I got it to cut 45 degree angles in pipe insulation, then naturally a project popped up where I needed to make a couple dozen miter cuts in MDF trim pieces. the saw did an ok job with 45 degree angle cuts, everything came together close enough to fill with spackle/caulk. The box conveniently includes a slot to make 45 degree cuts in two directions. So instead of having to hold a piece in a certain orientation, you can lay it down the other way. I used that a fair bit but got a constant deafening chafing noise while cutting, don't know why as I had the saw in the guide the whole time. The saw it came with seemed pretty cheesy, I think the teeth were catching plastic no matter what I did. This is fine for the occasional light duty project, I was dreaming of a table miter saw after 10 cuts. ... show more

I was a little reluctant to order this but I'm glad I did. I is easy to use but I did notice that there is some shredding for the base material when using the saw. I will give one less star for that reason. I don't expect it to last that long for that reason, but for now it works for what I need.

I already had one of these from years ago ( different brand) but my saw blades were no longer suitable for easy use. I really like this saw because it’s small and easy to use. I’m no spring chicken, but I can cut a small piece of wood with ease using a hand saw when an other method isn’t available.

It works. It's what I expected. The saw isn't very sharp and it takes a lot of sawing to get through even 1/2 inch of hobby wood. There is a lot of "play" in the groove so wobbles a bit and ends up shaving a lot of the blue plastic off. I ended up using my own hack saw (sharper) instead of the back saw it came with.
