Discovery 158 was bought for family outings and for my solo Delaware river trips below Easton where there are long whitewater (ww) stretches. One windy river canoe trip the canoe seemed to pause with river ww rushing below and me facing a steady 15 mph headwind. If I turn sideways the boat might flip from underneath me. Instead the Discovery's 87 lb weight helped keep me straight and stable until I bent forward to be "less of a sail" and reduce the winds grip. A powerboat heading upstream waited and watched to see the outcome as I escaped my peril. The safe Discovery 158 canoe was my hero that day and ever since. ... show more
