Iv been a carpenter for a while now, and this is beyond comfortable, other tool belts hirt after a while, weigh heavy on hips and make walking uncomfortable and all that. This takes that away, makes tools feel 100× lighter. Definitely worth it if your able to justify buying this. I bought a pair of occidental bags used from a coworker about 12 years ago when I started in the trades, and they held up all this time, so naturally I figured I’d buy another pair. My old pair for reference is also the fat lip I believe. And is still functional but fairly beat after 12 years+ They’ve obviously made some upgrades to the bags since, there’s lots of room in them the pockets are deeper and there is added leather reenforcement around, as well as a clip which I put an extra pocket on. I got the suspenders as well which pair great. They’re a little uncomfortable at first they’re stiff obviously need to be broken in. I get tons of compliments on them from homeowners and other tradesman. I have everything I could want stuffed into them (they are heavy) get the suspenders, and I personally wear overalls so my bags don’t try to drag my pants down. Overall I would say this is a great choice for the all around carpenter who is doing a variety of projects daily or weekly. I wouldn’t say they are necessary for your average framer or roofer, They are probably too bulky. But I think $400 for 14 years is a pretty good deal.
