  • Got a big head?? These are for you! A bit pricey at times though.
Color: Woodgrain/Prizm Tungsten Polarized Lens Width: 61 Millimeters
[2025 June - My unbiased review of "Oakley O09487 Holbrook XXL Rectangular Sunglasses"] First things first - I have a larger than average head, particularly for a woman. (Size 8, possibly bigger, though I have thick hair.) So I was very pleased to find out that Oakley had recently created another version of their classic style, the 'Holbrook' rectangular range of sunglasses. This 'Holbrook XXL' has the same size, shape and width of frame & lenses as the XL version, so both the XL and this XXL are specifically designed for large heads. The molded nose pads still aren't quite the right shape for my face to stop the bottom of the frames from jusssst touching my cheeks. That's a 'me' thing though, and they're probably perfect for lots of people. What's new here is that the XXL's arms are a wee bit longer than the XL's. That tiny difference is enough to make a big difference on my head, and these sunglasses are the most comfortable polarized ones I own. (You can find the measurements if you dig around on Oakley's own website.) Having said that, the ends of the folded arms can still touch the outer edge of the lenses if any pressure is applied on the arms, so be careful when carrying the sunglasses in a pocket or purse, etc. A solid case would help, and a cleaning cloth (if you have a spare one) can be used to protect the lenses from the ends. A combination of the two would solve the issue completely. The frame and lens construction quality is typical of Oakleys - excellent - The lenses I have are the 'prizm tungsten polarized' ones, which I chose because they're brownish and I like the warm amber hue of the world viewed through them. They claim to be 100% UV A/B/C blocking, and blue light blocking as well, though I don't have a way to test that. However, I do have a little polarized lens test card and it showed that these lenses are indeed polarized. (Three cars appear on the silver road when viewed through the lenses.) That makes them ideal for spending time on or next to water because the polarizing function reduces glare on the water surface. The grayish color stylized 'woodgrain' frame and arms are made of very slightly flexible 'thermoplastic', and I like the non-metal, 'clip together' style of hinge they use with this model because screws always seem to eventually work their way out, and I can sometimes be a bit clumsy as well... The arms of these Holbrook XXL frames simply wiggle & push back together if one or both pop out of joint. I'm not suggesting you pop the hinges on purpose, because they would probably get loose over time. A couple of nit picks - They're currently a bit pricey at over $230 (24 June 2025) for this color & lens. The price does drop from time to time though, so watch out for that. Also, Oakley lenses seem to be a bit easy to scratch, and there is no solid case, or separate cleaning cloth in the cardboard retail box with this model, just a microfiber drawstring bag which is described as a "Microbag and cleaning cloth" in the listing, so it's supposed to do both jobs. Please, dear Oakley, consider including a hard case and separate cleaning cloth with every pair of your glasses. It would cost you a dollar or two, and would definitely increase the perceived value. ... show more

  • These XXL rock!

  • Good frame, if you don’t mind scratched lenses within a week
Color: Matte Black/Prizm Black Lens Width: 61 Millimeters
Good frames for a big head, but the lenses are typical Oakley - scratch if you breathe on them. And even scratch using the Oakley cleaning cloth/bag. Com’n Oakley get your —T together or lower your price. Make sure you can find a replacement lens, I was able to find Myroks , which have a AF frame that has the same lens and the non-AF!!! They fit perfectly and don’t scratch as easily as the lower level-highest price Oakley lens. I think I paid like $15!!! ... show more

  • They're Oakley's
Color: Matte Black/Prizm Black Lens Width: 61 Millimeters
Great quality, as expected from the name. Large and fully coverage, but not excessively so. Looks great with most any outfit.

  • Straight forward style and function. Polarized lenses are great!
Color: Matte Black/Prizm Black Polarized Lens Width: 61 Millimeters
I like the classic style and light weight. They are all one texture and don't have any metal embellishments to catch and snag my long hair. In the mornings I drive directly east into the sun; the return is opposite but the sun is just as bright going west at 5 pm. The polarized XXL lenses protect my field of view, knock down the glare, and although these aren't a wrap-around style, because they are XXL much of my peripheral view is also clear and glare-free. I know there is value in quality design and materials, but I think much of what you're paying for is the name and good memories tied to wearing your favorite brand. I'll enjoy wearing these because they look nice and do a good job with what I need them to do, but I may share them with my brother next time I visit because he can appreciate expensive brands, will take care of them, and can afford to replace them if necessary. ... show more

  • They came crooked go buy at the physical store.
Color: Matte Black/Prizm Black Polarized Lens Width: 61 Millimeters
They came crooked. This happens often when you can’t physically see your items in the store. The ear rest when the glasses are set on the table are off. One is clearly higher than the other. These won’t get much use. Not a great choice.
