I'm an analytical biochemist and I needed a pair of mid-rise boots that cover my ankles for working in my laboratory, where I handle some hazardous materials and wanted extra splash-resistance. I was looking for boots that are lightweight, water resistant, have cushy soles and arch support, a generous toe box, and don't have ventilation holes (a mistake I've seen in other people's shoes if they have a chemical spill; holes are a prime route of exposure!). I was *also* looking for boots that were under ~$60 USD and had something stylish about them and weren't just plain black or brown. It was a tall order. I'm that type of person that doesn't generally trust some things on Amazon that have less than 1k ratings, like shoes, personal care products, things that go on my skin, and anything really that can affect my health or physical comfort, since I have lupus and very sensitive skin and joints. And I hadn't heard of this brand before. But I decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did because these boots fit *all* of the things I was looking for! I've been wearing them all day every day at work for over a month, with walking and standing a lot, and my feet don't hurt and the arch support is really nice. The break-in time felt pretty minimal and they were really comfy right out of the box. They did start out with making a crinkly noise in the tongue/fabric part when walking, but that went away after I'd say 3 weeks as they were more broken in. They provide good ankle support to me and I have not felt like I'm going to roll an ankle, whether through my floppy joints doing floppy joint things and on some uneven terrain outdoors (I have not yet worn them for their intended purpose of actually hiking yet though, but they seem to be quite versatile!), but also aren't super stiff and restrictive. They aren't too heavy and drag my feet down. They feel durable, with no signs of quickly breaking down like I've had with a bunch of other shoes on Amazon that started out feeling great but wore out way too quickly. I also love the purple accents, and do wish there were more boots in this style with black and another color (like blue or green!). I was worried with them being water resistant/proof that I'd end up getting stinky sweaty feet, but so far so good. I wear cotton/poly/spandex blend socks that are designed for hiking or working, with some compression, extra cushioning, and moisture wicking properties, and I'd bet that helps too. I take my boots off in the garage when I get home at the end of a long day (before I come in the house so as not to transfer anything from the lab indoors) and my feet and socks are dry and not sweaty. They don't feel too hot during the day, but have stayed warm on a couple of times I've been out walking in chilly temperatures. Overall, I have literally zero complaints about these boots, which is such a rarity for me! Highly recommend!

This boot is an absolute WIN for hiking/backpacking. I broke these in on a short hike through Flume Gorge in New Hampshire, then wore them the very next day for what turned into a 12-hour hike on the Franconia Ridge Loop, summiting Little Haystack, Mt. Lincoln, and Mt. Lafayette. By the end of the day, we had covered 11+ miles, and these boots exceeded my expectations in almost every way. I bought a half size up to account for foot swelling and thicker socks depending on the season, and that was definitely the right call. I had zero blisters or uncomfortable rubbing, even though the boots were essentially brand new. My feet did not start hurting until much later in the hike, when we had to deliberately slow our pace on the descent because of an injury in our group. That added roughly two hours to an already very long day. I genuinely think I could have finished the hike nearly pain-free under normal circumstances. The waterproofing was also excellent. Over the course of the hike, I accumulated roughly 6,500 feet of total ascent, crossed through creeks and waterfalls in the early morning, and trekked through plenty of muddy areas on the descent. I never had water or mud actually breach the boots. I did change my socks twice, and my feet were damp and pruny each time, but I suspect that had more to do with the socks and moisture management than water getting through the boots. Durability was another huge win. Franconia Ridge is extremely rocky, and I repeatedly banged the boots against sharp rock edges or accidentally wedged my foot between rocks. There were several times I half expected to look down and see a tear or some kind of damage, but nothing happened. These boots took an absolute beating and held up beautifully. The ankle support may be my favorite feature. A few months ago, I was hiking in trail sneakers and rolled my ankle badly enough that I completely fell on a peak. Thankfully, I wasn’t carrying much weight at the time. For this hike, I knew I’d be carrying a 30L pack plus several liters of water, so one of my biggest concerns was rolling an ankle again under a much heavier load. These boots gave me exactly the support I was looking for. I had about three instances during the Franconia hike where I am convinced I would have fully rolled my ankle in trail sneakers. I could feel my ankle begin to turn, but the structure of the boot caught and supported it enough that I was able to recover completely and keep moving. That alone made these worth the purchase for me. Every few hours, I changed my socks and re-laced the boots, and the laces held up perfectly as well. I really cannot say enough good things about these boots. This was my first full-day hike, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience with my footwear. After 11+ miles, 12 hours, thousands of feet of climbing and descending, rocks, mud, water crossings, and a prolonged descent, I finished without blisters, rubbing, water intrusion, ankle problems, or damage to the boots. They were incredibly comfortable, supportive, and durable. I would absolutely wear them for another long hike.

These shoes are so comfortable. I got 9 wide and it gives so much room in the toe area. However, I will be returning this shoe because it is sooo hot! I have only worn them inside the house and tried a cooling sock and a merino wool sock and my foot was just burning up in both. I bet it's great for winter weather but I intended to use these for summer hiking. They also make a constant crunching sound like it has crepe paper inside.

Wow! These boots are the ones! I wore them brand new out of the box on an INTENSE 10 mile hike in Shenandoah National Park. These boots were extremely comfortable, supportive, the tread saved my life on slippery, rocky inclines. They stayed warm and dry through epic rainfall, creeks, and sweat. No blisters. No ankle pain or shin splints. I cannot recommend these boots enough! Make sure to size up half a size because they run small. I also recommend the wide width so you can fit hiking socks with them. I am SO thankful for these amazing hiking boots!
