Product Review: NORTIV 8 Men’s Wide Toe Box Trail Running Shoes Rating: 5 stars (Initial Impression) As a dedicated runner who exclusively wears high-end, name-brand wide toe box and zero-drop shoes, I was skeptical about trying a more budget-friendly alternative. However, after getting the NORTIV 8 Trail Runners in hand, I am genuinely impressed. They are nearly identical to the premium brands I usually swear by, and dare I say—actually more comfortable right out of the box. The Breakdown Comfort & Fit The "foot-shape" geometry is spot on. My toes have plenty of room to splay naturally, which is a non-negotiable for me. The cushioning feels plush yet responsive, and I haven't experienced any of the typical "break-in" stiffness you find with some trail shoes. Aesthetics & Build Visually, these shoes hit the mark. The look and style are modern and sleek, comparable to shoes twice their price. The build quality feels surprisingly solid; the stitching is clean and the materials don't feel "cheap" or flimsy. The "Missing" Features If you are a serious trail runner who uses gaiters to keep debris out, there are two small omissions to note: There is no metal attachment point at the base of the laces. The heel lacks the Velcro "Gaiter Trap" strip. While these are missing, they are very easy DIY modifications to make if you’re handy with a bit of adhesive Velcro and a small attachment ring. Pros: Cost: A fraction of the price of big-name brands. Comfort: Honestly feels better than my "name brand" pairs. Style: Great colorways and a sleek silhouette. Cons: No Gaiter Attachments: Missing the front loop and rear Velcro. Durability: Yet to be tested on technical terrain. Final Thoughts (For Now) I haven't had the chance to put these through the ringer on a technical trail yet, so I can't speak to the long-term durability of the outsole or the upper mesh. However, based on initial look and feel, NORTIV 8 has produced a serious contender in the wide-toe-box category. I will update this review once I have 50+ trail miles on them to see how they hold up! Update: I just finished a 28+ mile run on pretty technical trails and the shoes were great. I have just shy of 50 miles on the shoes and have had zero issues. They're great! 2nd Update: I just crossed the 300 mile mark in the shoes and they're holding up great. Nearly all of the miles have been on technical trails. The tread is unscathed and they are honestly holding up better than the name brand zero drop shoe that always has the same failure point on the inner arch.

As a woman, I am singing the praises of the NORTIV 8! I absolutely love these shoes! I have been considering buying a popular and rather expensive brand of hiking/ running zero drop wide toe box shoe for awhile because only being in my 40's, I have old lady bunions, which I'm trying to correct. After reading the reviews of these I ordered a pair for my son and once I saw his, ordered a pair for myself. We both love them. I typically wear a Women's 10 regular width in running shoes and the size 8 in these shoes fit me absolutely perfect! Normally any mens shoes I try to wear are too wide across the mid foot or just have an overall sloppy feel on my foot. My toes feel free and I can now wear shoes all day long without being ready to get them off at the end of the day. The first day, there was some stiffness along the big toe edge, which caused some soreness, but once they were broken in day 2, I haven't had that problem. The quality of this shoe is superb, incredible value for the money! I don't buy cheap shoes, my running shoes have always been in the $100 range and I have been ok with that to get the right fit and a quality shoe. I was a little skeptical at a mid $50 price point, but boy did they surpass my expectations. Time will tell on how they hold up. I have pronation and usually wear a correction shoe, so I was sure how the flatter insole would work for me, but they are perfect and supportive. While it is a bulkier show with a thick sole and wide toe box, they are light with nice wearability and so well designed to not look awkward. Lastly, the tread on the soles provides great grip for off road running / walking or hiking.

Competing on the "foot shaped" stage is tricky. There are still not a lot of options. Altra shoes are the GOAT when it comes to fit and comfort - yet they are expensive and frankly not built to last. So, when I saw a wide toe box trail running shoe at a reasonable price, I jumped on it! The good: YES! Lots of room in the toe! YES, great traction! YES, zero drop! YES, a sturdy pull strap on the back and what seems to be sturdy construction all around! And finally, YES, a nice, airy mesh upper that breaths well. (Arch support, despite some other comments, is almost non-existent, but I'll give that a pass as if you need more arch support, you already probably buy your own inserts.) Ok, so, what's the deal killer? It's the collar - the portion of the shoe at the very top. It's just too high for a low shoe and it does the classic rubbing against your ankle bone! Within two minutes of just walking around the house I felt like I was going to have a blister on my foot on both ankle bones. AARG! It just needs to be a quarter inch lower and all would be fine. But, instead, the material at that very spot is reinforced with extra semi-stiff plastic where your laces end. Yeah, reinforcing that spot makes sense as that's where the most forces from your laces land - but you get a double whammy of that section being too high on your foot AND being super stiff. It's not going to "wear in and flex" either because the reinforced section is a material specifically designed NOT to lose its structure over time. I'm not going to return these - we don't have a UPS drop-off anywhere nearby, etc. Instead, I'm going to try to find a thicker insert that would lift my foot up a bit. Or take a hot knife to the material. In summary -SO CLOSE! I'm STILL going to give these shoes a full 4 stars though - because I understand that the problem might be my foot and not the shoe - and other people may have never had this problem. But, for me, they're essentially unwearable out of the box.

I hope this review helps anyone who's losing their mind trying to find a good pair of hiking shoes. I bought these for the Camino de Santiago in Spain, and they were awesome. I brought two pairs of hiking shoes—these and another brand—but I ended up wearing these the entire trip. They're extremely comfortable, have great traction, and are very breathable. They also have excellent cushioning, which really helps during those long hours of walking. The wide toe box is another huge plus because your toes won’t feel crammed together like sardines. I tried on dozens of different shoes, and none of them convinced me except these. Trust me, you won’t regret buying them.

As I reached a certain age - ahem - my feet started getting wider. It has gotten to the point now where I have to discard my old favorite shoes and find new ones that fit right. These are extremely comfortable with just enough padding for long walks (I am not a runner). The tread pattern is grippy, and the uppers breathe well. Most of all, I love the fact that the fit is stable and secure around the midfoot and heel, while there is ample room in the toe box. I didn't realize how much my old shoes were hurting my forefeet until I started wearing these. Oh, one other thing... Of all the new shoes I've tried, these are also the least expensive. I was leery about trying a brand I've never heard of, but after reading reviews of Nortiv 8 on other sites, I decided to give them a try. Of the six or so different brands I've purchased in my quest, these are the best value. None of the others are even close. I'll be buying additional colors soon.

These are great well-made shoes. I can’t find quality differences over my Hoka speed goat sixes. well thought out not too cushy. When the souls break in you could still feel the trail a bit with lots of stability lots of traction with a wider toolbox. A pad on the tongue to tie the laces extra tight so your foot doesn’t slip forward. These are very, very comfortable also. I grabbed these over my speed goat Hoka now. I’ve done 40 miles in them so far but who knows long-term after 300 miles, but for now they’re excellent. My Hoka started wear out the lugs on the ball of my foot after a 100 miles Sierra trip. Hopefully these shoes last longer because they feel great. Great find.

Wide toe box like Altra. Good toebox height. The bumper is nonnintrusive on my hallux rigidus. Plenty of cushion that is Eva not supercritical, so it doesn't squish and let the metatarsal bones spread out and hurt. Enough volume to comfortably accommodate a carbon fiber insert. Feels like an Altra meets brooks with a flat stay. Unusually good quality for the price. Low risk at this price- give it a shot. Also, the mesh does begin to loosen up and give after a few miles. Slightly long - dont size up instead enjoy the room w a good insert.

These shoes are extremely comfortable and seem to be well-made (and they look pretty cool for an almost 40-year old). The first real test was walking around DisneyLand for 14 hours. 34k steps! Feet were so comfortable I didn’t even think about them. No weird rubbing, no blisters, just comfy. Wide toe box is very nice. 10/10.
