  • Amazing Out of the Box
Size: 13 Color: Sand-6 Inches
My arches have fallen (flat feet). In short, not good. Our good US Navy saw no issue putting a very flat-footed individual on an 8-story aircraft carrier for 4 years. Anyway... Finding boots/shoes that work is nearly impossible and these boots are fantastic, right out of the box. The heavy-duty zipper makes things much easier coming and going, the internal arch support is amazing, the toe box is big enough to wiggle my toes and I can walk my dogs 1.5-2 miles daily without arch pain. I also wear Nortiv snow boots which have very similar arch support that led me to try these boots. They are also warmer than I expected and feel extremely durable. I will post an update if my experience doesn't align with my expectations after wearing them for a while. Update: after one month, they feel even better. In fact, they are so good at ordered the black pair so I could have a pair to work in and walk the dogs without messing the suede pair up, because they are a sharp looking boot that I started wearing to work in a business environment. Note that I had also purchased the Nike boots that are very similar to them and while the Nike boots are comfortable, they do not match the fit and support of these boots. When I lace them, I do so with force, as tight as possible, and they keep my weak and damaged ankles extremely secure. Two weeks ago, while walking the dogs on an asphalt path, I wiped out on a stretch of ice, kind of a contorted version of the splits on the way down, while wearing the black boots. When I got back on my feet, my left ankle was a little sore, but I have no doubt that if I had not had those boots on, laced tightly, it would’ve been a short walk back home or more like a hobble back home, but I was able to quickly walk off the soreness, and after a half a mile, I didn’t even know it happened. I will update this if I see where, in wear issues with either pair. For now, they give me tremendous confidence that my ankles are secure, and tremendous comfort! Note that I also wear them with very thick wool socks which also add to the comfort and our fantastic if you have neuropathy as I do. Either way, you cannot go wrong with these boots for the price. They are far better than the military boots I was issued while serving. ... show more

  • Great for money
Size: 11 Color: Brown-8 Inches
These boots are well made for the money. I own boots that are several hundred dollars that are very nice boots, down to these 50dollar boots and everywhere in between. These for the price, and even if they were more expensive so far after a couple of weeks I'd still be satisfied. Materials seem to be decent, the bottoms are a soft, you won't have that hard shank. Kicking over a dirtbike, you feel it, spending time on an extension ladder you feel that as well. Things like that aren't pleasant. But walking in the woods and running around outside or on concrete so far they are good. They aren't water proof, but they have a decent wide toe box, the zip is great for kicking them off and getting them on, they are comfortable out of the box, if they dig into your ankle, take them off, and bend the rear heel cap along the stitch line out and back and forth and it will soften it and stop that. Good Zipper, good traction in dirt wet and concrete, look decent, I like them. Especially for the price. I don't know how long they will last obviously, I'm like 6ft 175 and wear them daily at work interior construction and in the woods shooting and walking, and so far holding up well. Whatever you wear in likes or jordans, likes in general or thorogood moc toe red wing moc these run true to that in my experience. I'd buy them again, and have been looking at other nortiv8 hikers and tactical boots. I'd love to review more boots as I wear alot of shoes and go through alot of boots. Just got sick of destroying expensive boots doing silly stuff at work, so decided I'd get some cheaper boots and turns out these are more comfy out of the box. ... show more

  • Good so far... UPDATE: Have used them a bit now.
Size: 11 Color: Dark Grey-8 Inches
They seem OK so far, but it is too early to tell whether they work well or not as I have only worn them twice and they are not yet broken-in. The side zip has a web across the opening, which makes it a little tight to slide them on for my big feet and twig legs, since they are laced up tight. The fit was spot-on. I will update the review in a few months after I have worn them a bunch. UPDATE: I have worn these a bunch while hiking now. They've dropped a star since my initial review. They're still OK, but just OK, not great. There are a few annoying items: 1) The side zippers are way lighter-duty than I would have expected for this application. I expect the zippers to be the first things to go. 2) The web across the side zip opening is not very generous, meaning the boots are still a chore to get on and off. Another 1/2 inch of material would have made slipping them off and on much easier. 3) I could forgive there being a web in the first place if it helped with water protection, but it does not. If you step in more than maybe an inch and a half of water, your socks are getting wet pretty quickly. I've put maybe 30-40 miles on them, so they're still pretty new. They just don't have the feel of some of my previous boots. They still look good, but they feel as if they are just not going to last very long. Update 2: The final update. I am keeping 4 stars because I still think these are a decent value, but only because they are so darned cheap. I have used them for 6 months and put about 250 miles hiking on them - but I am in the market for new boots now. They perform "acceptably" in most areas, but excel in none. The main reason for retiring them from active hiking and relegating them for yard work, is that they are the least waterproof boots I have ever owned. If you just splash through an inch deep puddle, somehow your socks end up soaked immediately. The tread is also more vinyl-like than rubber-like, so before the tread bites into the ground, they'll slide a bit. For the $40-$50 they charge for these it's a decent buy, but don't expect high-performance boots. ... show more

  • Nicely made, good fit, great value
Size: 9 Color: Black-8 Inches
My wife has added a horse to the family, and I know I needed boots to get around the bard and paddock. These are well made, comfortable, fit fine. The side zipper is great.
