  • It was worth the try
Color: 6pcs
If you're reading this, you probably have a loud mouthed rooster like me. Nothing seems to make him happy. I live on a farm, but I feared that even the farm next door was growing tired of his relentless screaming. I found these collars and thought I'd try them. Well, they definitely made his crowing quieter. But he was awfully uncomfortable. He shook his head trying to get the collar off and clearly did not appreciate it. After about 5 minutes his crowing got louder, to the point I just removed it. Between his comfort level and the collar only semi working, I decided to throw in the towel. But, at least I can rule it out and didn't spend a ton of money on this. I'm still happy I tried these collars out. They may work on some but maybe not on others. ... show more

  • Minimal effectiveness
Color: 6pcs
It takes some trial and error to find the sweet spot. My package didn't come with any instructions so I went to Google and most said bottom of the neck. I don't think we went tight enough because it did nothing. He crowed incessantly because he could hear the other roosters. One video said the top of the neck works for hers. We had some success but he sounded pitiful so I felt bad for him. He's such a sweet boy but he wouldn't let anyone sleep. I'm attached to him so absolutely wouldn't cull him and didn't want to give him up so was desperate. The middle didn't work either so tried one more time and a third up the neck and tighter. I held him for awhile making sure he could easily breathe and eat and drink. Now he rarely crows. Still somewhat loud but more in the afternoon the rare times he does. I think we can all live with that. Not nearly as obnoxious as the 200 dogs always barking. Just keep an eye on your cockerel for awhile to make sure he can breathe, eat, and drink. A tip to make it tight enough is to gently elongate his neck. It's very easy to do. Very very gently slide your hand up his neck and he will do it on his own. Remove as many feathers as possible by moving them up. Don't put a finger between like you would do other collars. The point is to keep the air sac from expanding. When I first applied the collar (and way too loose) my bird acted very dramatic like he was really going to die. He laid on the ground with his beak touching the floor with his eyes closed. Had me really upset so I stayed with him. My chickens are overly spoiled so I think he was being a dramatic teenager. He was literally a teenage chicken. Almost an adult but not quite. Don't fall for his shenanigans. Mine, I call Red, was up and going pretty soon. Unless you cinch it really hard he'll be fine. My sweet boy rarely crows now so it's such a relief. He was going nonstop. ... show more

  • Not for bantam breeds
Color: 6pcs
These do help to quiet the roo if adjusted properly. No, it isn't going to fully stop most crowing, it's in their nature to make noise. If you have a bantam breed, you'll want a different option. My bantam Cochin is able to grab the tail end of the Velcro and remove the collar because it overlaps so far. Doesn't do any good laying on the floor of the run. ... show more

  • It works if you're proactive. You may have to reajust it until you get it right.
Color: 6pcs
I was skeptical but, they do work. You can't just put it on and be done though. We have 3 roosters and we reajust them as needed. If the rooster is loud again, it means the collar needs to be either tightened or higher/lower on the neck. Just the tip of your pinky should fit under. They will run backwards and buvk but, 5 seconds later they're fine. I watched a lot of videos before I put the collar on. The first time, I was so nervous and skeptical. Now, I just grab the rooster, put it between my legs, put my hand around their neck to pudh the feathers up and put it on. It gets easier and the rooster knows the drill after a few times. It's either get rid of them or a collar so, we are trying this out. Our roosters are just fine and you can't even see their vollars becsuse it's under their feathers. Right now it's $4.99 so we're getting more. ... show more

  • Not rooster proof
Color: 6pcs
It cuts volume by about 20-30% The collars seemed well made, the velcro part was very tough. Unfortunately it didn't stand up against my rooster even though I really thought it would. He shreds the collars after a couple days. He's a brute though. Even after half the collar was Shredded the velcro was still hanging on. ... show more

  • Works great… adjustments need to fit properly
Color: 6pcs
This color has worked great. When I first put it on, it worked immediately. After a few days, the rooster began to be able to crawl again. I waited for a couple of weeks just to let him adjust to the collar, then adjusted the collar slightly tighter. this again helped restrict his crowing, but he was fine to talk with the ladies and eat perfectly fine. After about a month or so the collar began to fully slide under the feather and he began to crow once again. I’ve now adjusted it for the third time and it is finally fully under all feathers. He can still let out a slight core here and there but it’s not very audible. Mostly just sounds like an airy, wheezy sounds like he’s smoked a few packs in his day. His ability to chat and talk with the ladies is perfectly normal. No hindrance there. Should recap what I’ve learned. The collar will need to be slightly adjusted tighter as feathers under the collar adjusts under his feather or the feathers fall off. I believe this can be done over a few week period. Just be mindful to not overtighten initially. I always spend a few hours checking in on him and making sure he’s fine. When you do put the collar on, he will run backwards trying to get out of it. This is normal and perfectly fine. After a few hours, he will adjust and be very comfortable with the color. It’s like back in high school when people thought it was cool to wear choker collars. Looked uncomfortable, but the person wearing it was perfectly fine. That’s exactly how this color works. Looks uncomfortable but actually to the rooster it’s perfectly fine. ... show more
