This is our hamster Honey Buns favorite thing to be in. She really loves her wheel. It is so quiet I don’t know she’s on it unless I look at her on it. I like that it’s lined with cork & comes with an extra one to replace it with when it wears out. It came already assembled, all I had to do was raise it a little so it could spin. It seems super durable & it’s really sturdy. It’s not wobbly at all. The cork, I’m sure, is probably really comfortable for her to run on too. We got the biggest ones as I have overweight gerbils and they have eaten their last 3 wheels (not kidding, even 2 plastic ones and 1 reasonably sized wood one). It really is silent! And it doesn't wobble. It does require some hand strength but its sturdy and easy to put together. It is also adjustable for different heights. If my super fat, middle aged gerbils can run on it easily, I cant wait to see when we get one for my psycho younger gerbils lol. It also comes with a replacement cork for when they make it gross. Bought this as enrichment for a baby leopard tortoise. It works very well and the extra cork bark liner included is a nice touch. Due to the humidity in a tortoise enclosure, I am sure that this will eventually go bad, but it is a much better idea to replace it when that happens than to try to use something that is metal or plastic. I will be sealing this one with bees wax to prolong it's life, since that is harmless to my tortoise. ... show more

After I put this wheel in my Syrian hamster's enclosure, I presumed she rejected it. It was sitting in there for weeks, unused. Or so I thought! I finally caught her in the act of using this Niteangel wheel. It turns out this wheel is so silent, that I wasn't even aware she had been using it all along! I've bought so-called quiet wheels in the past, but this is the first one that is truly silent. By the way, A lot of other reviews here mention that this wheel is impossible to clean. I can't comment on that, because my girl doesn't go to the bathroom on the wheel. But if your hamster is also clean, you should definitely get this wheel. It's pricey, but worth it, because you can't put a price on a silent night! ... show more

Nothing wrong with the wheel itself. Its sturdy and looks great in the cage. It’s a great option. I give it 4 stars for ease of cleaning. I would recommend the niteangel acrylic wheels over this one since it’s hard to clean pee/poop off of the cork lining in this wheel.

    • Amazing quiet wheel, much better than plastic

Being gerbils, we didn't know how much better this wheel would be than a plastic wheel. It is much more quiet, our owner can't hear it even when we are running full speed. And we mean both of us -- it's large enough to hold two gerbils running at the same time. In the week since our owner put this wheel in our cage, we use it almost exclusively over the old plastic wheel. We nibbled on the cork track a little bit at first, but don't any more. Highly recommend for any cage with gerbils. Owner Edit (2025): In fact the gerbils did end up developing a taste for the cork and wood wheel and chewed it pretty significantly. I've since replaced it with a NiteAngel plastic wheel of the same diameter. They don't use the new wheel as much but I'm not into dropping $30-50 on a new wheel every year. ... show more

Mr. Marshmallow is a full-grown adult now, and this wheel has been perfect for his cardio sessions. He runs in solid 10-minute bursts, then flops over like he just finished a full-body workout—takes a breather, then he’s back at it again. It’s honestly hilarious and adorable to watch. What I really appreciate is the adjustable height feature. I’ve got tunnels and deep bedding in his cage to encourage burrowing, and being able to raise or lower the wheel depending on the setup is a game-changer. Also, huge plus: it came with an extra cork strip, which is super thoughtful. The original one can get a little gross if Marshmallow decides to use it as a bathroom (yep, sometimes that’s his spot…), or if his nails start wearing it down. Having a backup is incredibly handy.
