  • Don't be afraid! - this wavy CGM die hard is a convert
Style: System 1 | Natural Hair, Light Thinning
I have thinning hair due to perimenopause. Then, I went through stress hair loss. Handfuls of hair were coming out, especially when I showered. I have fine 2b-2c wavy hair. I have used CGM for over a decade, which is how I discovered my curls. Before that it was straight. So, I was VERY hesitant to routinely use a shampoo with sulfate. But I figured WTH, I can wear my hair straight, at minimum throw it up in a loose bun or gater clip if I don't feel like styling it. Glad I went for it TL/DR: hair fall is now at normal levels and I still have my waves! I was shocked on multiple levels. First, after 2 uses, I have had a dramatic decrease in hair fall. At first I could feel the mint tingle on my scalp with the shampoo, conditioner and treatment. I didn't mind, felt like I knew it was working. 😂 I actually enjoyed the minty scalp. I felt refreshed after my shower and since I'm in perimenopause, the cooling sensation in the shower was greatly appreciated. After a month of use, the conditioner is still minty/menthol but only for the last minute or so before I rinse it out. The shampoo and treatment, not at all. Cleanse/Condition The shampoo definitely left my hair clean, it squeaked. I was worried since I could tell the cuticle was open. The shampoos I typically use have plenty of slip, this does not. Cue conditioner. My hair soaked it up. The cuticle closed back up to pre-shampoo standard when it was time to rinse it out. Did not expect that from the conditioner, especially as it's not as rich/thick as the ones my hair typically requires. Guess I shouldn't have based a book by it's cover, my hair had way more moisture than I anticipated. I will say that I used a ton of it, my hair just soaks it up. This is pretty standard for my hair. For every small bottle of shampoo, I typically need 3 standard size bottlesof conditioner. I did buy a second conditioner separately, after I noticed it was working. I still had a the same amount of hair fall on first use. Second use, still had hair fall but was dramatically less. After 1 week hair fall was back to normal! Added bonus, after I got out of the shower my hair was every bit as curly as it is when I follow CGM. Styling Now for styling. I plopped my hair, sometimes I use a dab of CK leave in to the ends or bottom 1/3 of my hair, but generally not. When it was midway down my back so, the ends tended to get dryer. Now that it's jaw length, haven't had to do that. Then I use the treatment spray. This definitely mentholated my scalp, for the first few days until it reduced to nothing. My scalp was pink for the first few hours the first time I used it, then never again. treatment does have some hold to it, which surprised me. I air dry my hair and the spray itself has some hold to it. I had to scrunch out my hair. Did the hold last all day, definitely not. I had to use a ton to get it through all of my hair. I don't like the way it made my hair feel after it dried. Somewhere between waxy and sticky and stiff. Now I focus it on my scalp. My hair has enough volume that I don't need the artificial thickening throughout, but it works well on my scalp. Plus I can then use my gel with zero issue. ... show more

  • Has worked beautifully for me. Very happy Has worked beautifully for me. Very happy
Style: System 2 | Natural Hair, Progressed Thin...
I’m almost 60, the last few years my hair has fallen out so badly that it’s everywhere. I’ve tried biotin, stopped coloring, stopped daily washing and it just progressively got worse. My hair is fine, but I used to have a lot, no products I tried were helping. Came across this looking for something else to try. Purchased the large in #2 for non treated heavy loss with a special Amazon was offering. Washing every 2-3 days and using all 3 products exactly as directed. It’s like magic and exactly what I was hoping for. I did immediately notice, even though I hadn’t colored my hair in almost a year, it stripped color out after the first wash. It also brought out more gray which I’m ok with. Def do not use the one for natural non-treated hair if you want to keep the shade you have. My hair is long and I try to use equal amounts of shampoo and conditioner but I need a little more conditioner as the shampoo does def cause the need for it. I just use some conditioner I have at home on my ends. The pic (grey shirt) is after a day, washed around 5:15 am, dried and did nothing else. Not brushed (which just seems to make it look fuller) vs prior to using this brushing just made it more limp/oily looking. I think avoiding everyday use works better for me. Previously when I didn’t wash daily by the 2nd day I had to use so much dry shampoo and it would still look lank and unhealthy. The results I’ve received in a week are spectacular. The 2nd day it still looks great, 3rd day is acceptable but it’s just needing to train my scalp to not overproduce oil. Scent is nice and I’ve not had any negative side effects. Also, and I don’t know how this is even possible but my hair loss has improved by 75% already. (I say as I pull a strand of hair off my shirt). Hoping it will continue to be this beneficial. So thankful I found this. * no idea how much of the foam you need to use. I’m using about 4-5 squirts and just doing the best I can to get it near my scalp then I comb it through with a wide tooth comb or pick. Before- blue dress, had washed it 2 hours earlier (pic was taken 10 days before the other one) After- grey shirt had washed 11 hours earlier ... show more

  • Good product / CGM Convert
Style: System 2 | Natural Hair, Progressed Thin...
For reference, I have fine 3a hair. I was doing the curly girl method for several years and towards the end my scalp was feeling very unhealthy and I was losing a lot of hair (probably due to several factors) I tried lots of products and vitamins and would have to use multiple shampoos in one wash to get my scalp feeling clean. I’ve been using this set for about 3 months now. My hair looks and feels much healthier now. Most importantly my scalp feels clean and refreshed. I have not seen regrowth, but I have noticed I’m shedding less hair. Hopefully regrowth is coming. I have been using this conditioner plus my normal curly conditioner because I felt this one wasn’t super moisturizing. My curls still look good despite abandoning cgm. I would recommend this product and will keep using until I feel like my scalp/hair have fully regained health. If you’re on the fence make the switch! ... show more

  • Not a fix for my specific hair loss, but doesn't hurt anything!
Style: System 2 | Natural Hair, Progressed Thin...
I have been using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner for a few years. I hadn't been using it very consistently and noticed I was having a lot of hair fall recently, and decided to commit to it. I also decided it was time to see a dermatologist about my hair fall/loss. Turns out there is something else going on with me and this shampoo won't fix it - BUT it certainly won't hurt and my dermatologist didn't have anything against me continuing using it. But I will be addressing the actual medical reason for my hair loss. In the meantime, I'm continuing to use the shampoo and conditioner. I really love the smell and the way the product feels on my scalp. I have also been using the thickening foam that came with in the package. The foam is really interesting... I put it on while my hair is still damp and when it dries, it seems to sort of "glue" my hair strands together - makes it a little tough to comb through my hair at first. I can't decide if I like it or not. I'd say that it's more of a "volumizing" product - which is similar to other volumizing products I've used that raise the hair after blow drying. Overall -- I'll continue to buy this shampoo/conditioner because it's a great product and while it won't fix my hair loss, it will keep my scalp healthy. For anyone dealing with hair loss - I highly recommend contacting your Primary Care physician and your dermatologist and have them work together to evaluate and help diagnose you. I'm finally starting to see my hair stop falling out now that I know what the real problem is. ... show more

I love the refreshing tingle it leaves on the scalp. After using the full system, my hair has more volume and looks fuller. It’s a great professional-grade treatment to use at home.

  • Product is for 'breakage' not hair growth.
Style: System 2 | Natural Hair, Progressed Thin...
Post-COVID, my partner has dealt with slight hair loss/thinning so we thought this shampoo might aid in the recovery process of regrowing hair. When looking further at the description of the product and its ingredients, we realized this product is designed to strengthen what is already in place but not actually induce new hair growth. This product claims to reduce hair fall by up to 91% due to breakage, 'breakage' being the key word. Some people may think that peppermint oil "has great data," but it doesn't. There's a very limited study of mice that typically gets referenced and it's over a four week span. That's seems a little ridiculous when you account for the fact that the process of regenerating a hair follicle takes up to 4-6 months. As long as you're buying this product with the understanding that it won't truly do anything for 'thinning' besides making what you already have LOOK more voluminous, then by all means have at it. That being said, I will say there are better ingredients and products to achieve volume and correct breakage than this system. If one truly is looking into peer-reviewed, scientifically-back ingredients for hair regrowth, minoxidil is a product to ask your dermatologist about. When first using the product, my partner felt the cool "scalp-tingling" sensation from the peppermint oil in the shampoo. After washing it out, his hair (naturally wavy, dry) felt overly stripped of oils and almost stringy in feel. The foam used post-shower made his hair feel clumpy and sticky. Another consideration for this product is the smell. If you're averse to strong smells, this product isn't for you. While my partner and I enjoyed the smell of peppermint oil, I understand it could be overwhelming to others. Overall, not a product I plan on ever repurchasing. Aside from the pleasant peppermint smell, I don't have any other notes that make this product worth the price in my opinion. ... show more

  • Thicker Hair, Healthier Scalp, and It Lasts a long time
Style: System 4 | Colored Hair, Progressed Thin...
I absolutely love this shampoo and conditioner. It makes my hair feel cleaner, healthier, and noticeably thicker without feeling heavy or dry. One set lasts me about six months, which makes it an amazing value. A little truly goes a long way, and my scalp feels refreshed every time I use it. My hair looks fuller, has more body, and is easier to style. It’s especially great if your hair has started thinning or feeling flat over time. If you want thicker-looking hair, a healthier scalp, and a system that actually lasts, this is worth every penny. 💖💯✨ Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Excellent product!
Style: System 4 | Colored Hair, Progressed Thin...
I have been using this product for years and I recently switched to another high end shampoo/conditioner duo. I learned my lesson and have reverted back to Nioxin. It gives a certain 'cleanse' to my hair that leaves it extremely balanced and clean and shiny. Aside from that, I am noticing that after returning to this product, my hair has begun looking less like it is thinning so an added plus! ... show more
