I first bought a cheap, black replacement plug but even though the prongs were correct, it could never accept the 6 gauge wire of the RV extension cord. The cord has a 1" diameter and this plug worked perfectly. Also the lugs are even better than what is shown in the product listing (see my photos). They work just like a large circuit breaker to smash the entire width of the wire. Only the ground has the old style connector, but the ground cable is only #8 so when twisted in two equal sides it fits nicely around the screw. The quality appears to be good and the handle will help with disconnecting the cord. I made my own adapter for connecting my generator to the house. When I unscrewed the housing, I cleaned the bits of plastic from the screw threads. This helped them to go back in without extra obstructions that could strip the screw heads or the plastic. I would recommend this product to anyone who is replacing their 50 amp cord end. ... show more

I am using these for my RV as the name of the plug states they are for. They are cheaply made and shouldn't be used for an RV, since they shouldn't get wet. For now they will get the job done.

This is my third and last 50 amp plug for my motor home. Unlike the other two, this connector is very well made. The housing is stout, the brass fittings are large and designed to easily accept the large awg wires that make up the 50 amp cord. The yoke at the bottom that holds the connector to the black outer casing is heavy duty and will prevent the wires from pulling away from the internal brass pins. Sturdy product, but strange selection of screws. Four screws hold two halves of unit together. Two different sizes of small and smaller very stripable phillip's head screws. Loosened two with difficulty will have to drill out the smaller ones. A baffling choice for such a otherwise good product. What ? Did they save five cents per unit ? Also - no bushing is provided, leaving a 1 inch hole where the wire exits the plug. ... show more

This is a good replacement end. There could have been a little more room inside for the ground wire sine you need to tuck it under the red wire. I was able to get it installed, but it took a lot of patience.

The plug is rated at 50 amps which requires # 4 wire. The plug has nearly enough space for the four wires. The plug is held together with 3 small self tapping screws that are too small to hold the half’s of the plug together The screws are #1 Phillips and the metal is so poor the screws strip with little torque. I would never recommend to anyone concerned with safety and functionality. This product should not be placed on the market. High potential for failure. ... show more
