I really like these shoes, so much so that I recently purchased 3 more pairs of them. If you have wide feet, the wide width model is very comfortable for us wide-feet folks, and the shoes perform great for court sports, fitness walking and walking in general. The soles are long-lasting, they have good grip on the courts and pavement, and feel like they provide good support for your feet. When new, however, it may take you a few weeks to break in, even though they are not entirely made of leather (leather/synthetic leather combi). I've machine-washed my Monarchs and air-dried them in the backyard and this gets 'em nice and clean, removes any built-up perspiration odor, and look and feel like new again. Have wide foot so many sneakers sold won't get past my toes. They are that small. I have tried on many in stores only to leave without any. The Monarch sneaker fits really good. I have used it for over 7 years always buying a new pair without even looking for any other brand. I've ordered at least a half dozen pairs of these over the years. I LOVE the design and the comfort of the shoe... BUT EVERY SINGLE PAIR SQUEEKS. And every single pair, eventually delaminates (pulls apart) around the edges of the sole, leather upper and the black nose piece... which is actually part of the sole. And as such, renders these shoes useless (they leak) far before the sole wears out. From a quality standpoint they are terrible and Nike either needs to re-evaluate their Quality Control process or redesign the shoe. I read a review here that recommends using a bit of WD-40 under the inner sole. I may try that and hopfully that solves the squeeking issue but with the number of reviews that reflect this issue... fixing the root cause of the problem should be a Nike priority. Judging from the number of complaints regarding these issues... either Nike doesn't read them or they don't care. ... show more
