  • Excellent for concrete floor (see hints)
Color: Grey/Grey Size: 7 XX-Wide
At the tryout stage, this sneaker seems good. I loosened the laces hugely at the tongue and moved the slack up into the toebox eyelets. Now the toebox feels roomy (with socks that are a few years old, no longer super-thick). There's a LOT of slide in the ankle, which may be because of the loosened laces. I am hoping to use these for work, on my feet in a retail warehouse, on concrete floors almost all the time. Ive observed that a cushioned shoe is not always the best; sometimes a more rigid, supportive base can be better for 6-8 hr workday, even just 4 hrs, depending on the amount or lack of walking. The insert is more rigid, so I'll see if it helps. A gel insert can always be swapped out. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why someone was complaining about the tongue. The "gray" version isn't really gray; it's more a "geriatric taupe," accentuated by the fact that these have true leather uppers. But I tend to wear tans and earth-tones, so I ordered this color, already aware these had no fashion factor. I knew I would have to spend $ to get enough support, so I appreciate the monthly payment option. In my 40s, I sized down from 7 to 6.5, but in my 60s, I find that I really need the full 7. (My mom said her feet got longer too.) Even if I got new socks, I think there would still be enough room here. I always get wide shoes/sneakers and have stuck with New Balance for about 25 years. Apparently, no one gives a crap about proper shipping anymore. The shoebox was simply thrown in a plastic Amazon bag (no shipping box), and looked as if it had exploded from the abuse of shipping. The shoes were fine (hard to damage sneakers). Aside from superficial issues (appearance and shipping carelessness), I recommend these so far. Will update after I put some mileage on them. UPDATE: This sneaker demonstrated what a chiropractor once told me. "The human body is designed to MOVE." At first I settled on 2 different DrS gel inserts (not the "wide feet" version) and wore them simultaneously without the NB insert. My feet would be swollen by the end of a shift (socks creating wrinkles in my skin) and quite sore. But I noticed they felt better after a rush to the loo: rapid walking helped to pump fluid in and out of my feet, giving relief for 15 mins at a time. For a while, I wore a compression sock or "sleeve" which encourages fluid to pump up out of the foot. I carefully removed the "finish" stitching at the toes and the ankle for maximum freedom of circulation (see image). Then I started doing heavy labor on the job: lifting cases of beverages into place. With a compromised back, I had to squat to lift them. Who needs a gym? I started building muscle (pelvis/legs) on the job. And with this additional task, the rest of my day was more rushed. I walked faster throughout the store, all the time. The edema (swollen, sore feet) disappeared. I no longer needed to think about "snapping" my heels to my calves to complete full flexion/extension of my feet on the job. I was walking so vigorously, circulation of fluids through my feet took care of itself. I never went back to the original NB insert. I still used the double DrS gel inserts. They've compressed a bit, and because my feet are no longer swollen, there is more room everywhere in the sneaker. If I need more support, I just tighten the laces gently all over. I absolutely *avoid* tightening the last lacing (at the top of the instep, near the ankle), which would prevent fluid from exiting my foot and circulating up my leg. My conclusion: Don't be afraid to try one or more gel inserts with this sneaker; if you remove the NB insert, there's plenty of room to wear two. The stiffer support works well on a concrete or other hard floor. Create a routine of regular movement early in the shift BEFORE your feet hurt. Don't expect this or any shoe to make up for lack of movement; this sneaker will, however, give you the support needed to aggressively meet the challenge of a warehouse environment. ... show more

It runs a size small. It’s great other than that.

  • Number
Color: White/Blue Size: 9
Love new balance shoes. I have trouble with balance but these help keep me on my feet. I can wear them longer than any other shoes I have. Remember the higher the number the better they are for your feet

  • Update:- Tried these again and they felt really good!
Color: Grey/Grey Size: 7 Wide
These need breaking in and I won't recommend for exercising but they're comfortable for walking around all day. I guess it took some getting used to since they're stiffer than my usual Nike's

  • Great fit, very comfortable.
Color: Black/Black Size: 7.5 XX-Wide
Great fit and very comfortable. Has very good support for stability without being stiff. I have wide and high arched feet that are hard to fit. These shoes are perfect for me. Glad I bought 2 pairs. I've worn New Balance shoes for years: work, walking, and hiking shoes. Never had a bad fit in any of them. Thanks NB for offering these diverse sizes, widths and styles. ... show more

  • This doesn't fit like a New Balance shoe.
Color: White/Blue Size: 9 Wide
This is far past the order date, but I must say something. First, I let the return date slip by - my fault. Having worn New Balance for years, something was wrong with the pattern and fit of this model. It did not "yield" in the right places, and the sole was very stiff. It walked in a "step-tip, step-tip" two part movement with each step. My feet, especially the toes felt tired after trying to wear these shoes. I have always loved New Balance shoes, but this one missed the mark. I cannot wear this model at all. I believe I paid over $150 for this shoe - quite a loss. :( ... show more
