So, the way I got turned on to these shoes was through a friend. She is an older working woman, (I am a young working woman), and she gave me a pair of these that she had worn through and let me tell you man, those were genuinely the most comfortable pair of shoes I’ve ever worn. My feet are wide and the shoes were not, so due to them being so comfortable, I was then forced to buy a new pair and they are just wonderful. I genuinely couldn’t recommend these enough. They offer great arch and ankle support, they’re ridiculously comfortable, and they’re really cute chunky white dad shoes. My one note is that they run a little narrow, so if you have a wider foot you may want to buy a wide pair in your size rather than just going up a size. Seriously tho, I never write reviews, but these shoes are so good I had to. Highly recommend them especially for older people, (but I also love them as a 26 yr old). The shoe size I purchase was an 8 1/2 wide and they fit perfectly. These shoes are so good that when they eventually are ran through, I’m planning on just buying another identical pair. I bought these for my flat feet. There is hardly any arch support, but they feel snug and like they will be good for my ankles. I have not walked in them yet. Will update once I try them out for a bit. Update: I do not wear these out and about as often as I'd like to, but I have been wearing them around the apartment and can tell you that I feel very secure and comfortable. When I am walking around, vacuuming, cleaning, lifting objects, I feel very stable with these on my feet. I can tell that these shoes really do correct my pronation, and because they are so secure, my feet can't fight it, and it is taking my brain some time to get used to this correction in my ankles. Overall, I recommend these shoes for someone looking to improve their posture and stability. Update 2: These shoes are a bit heavy. I can tell I get fatigued wearing these just around my apartment. They are not cushiony like running shoes and do not absorb impact. It is a bit tiring on my body wearing these shoes, and I do not recommend them for comfort or if you are looking for pain relief from standing. ... show more

What I loved is that these exta wide shoes are wide enough to not press on any part of my bunions or toes. I also love the velcro which makes it easy to wear. It has an all leather upper which would be good in rainy weather. What I don't love (and I took off a star for) is that the insoles are kind of stiff and don't provide cushioning. There's no room in the shoe for me to put in another pair of insoles. So I won't be using this pair for walking or other exercise. Also, the leather squeaks just a bit. I am keeping them for casual use since I got them on sale for great price. But, I will probably go with another model from New Balance when I shop for my next pair of walking shoes. ... show more

New Balance used to be "my brand" but a few years ago I had to return a pair because the base of the tongues were unfinished and very uncomfortable. Fought shy after that, bought a Propert pair which have done me good service except the narrow toe box took some stretching. Decided to try NB again since Amazon's return process is very easy. Ordered my usual 8.5 wide but they were just too short. Don't know if it was my aging feet or something off with the size. Tried 9 wide and they are perfect, go figure. I needed a shoe that would humor my heel spur and less than perfect toes when my sensitive feet are rapidly pounding a treadmill. I found that these do not work very well for treadmill workouts; however, for the price, they do have some merits. This is what I found to be true of the shoes I received. Pros: 1. Well-made and good looking walking/goofing off/leisure time/ shoe. 2. Easily adjustable and good for those unable to tie shoes 3. Leather...not an imitation/synthetic 4. Flexible hook and loop closure. Initially the straps were too short; however, after wearing mine for a few hours they did stretch enough that the strap covered the hook and loop closure. (see pictures) 5. True to size with lots of toe wiggle room 6. Flexible soles 7. Do not have that EXTREME UGLY appearance that many walking shoes have 8. Removable insoles so other insoles can be added/substituted 9. U-shaped tongue that dips in the middle to allow for flexibility when walking. 10. Foam padded/cushioned collar, tongue and heel 11. Low-cut under ankle so shoe and ankle bone do not collide Cons: 1. Not enough insole padding/cushion to assure continued comfort when walking/standing on hard surface for prolonged period. If I add a thin insole, it pushes my foot upward and the straps become too tight. If I loosen the straps, the hook and loop closure does not match. They will not work for the purpose for which I bought them, but they are okay shoes. 2. Although the top of the tongue is padded, the edge is stiff and digs into my ankle when walking 3. A high arch foot may need added support ...fairly good for low/medium arch foot 4. Too wide for my narrow heel causing shoe to slip, but not enough to be overly annoying ... show more

I have narrow feet but based on the reviews I ordered medium width. I usually wear a 9.5 or 10N and ordered size 10M. The shoe felt very tight and my toes were touching the end, so I returned them and, although I've never worn that size, I exchanged them for 10.5 medium. I now have a little wiggle room for my toes. The width is still snug but good for support. I removed the foot bed and replaced it with my own inserts and now have a comfortable pair of shoes. ... show more
