  • Best shoe but run skinny make sure to get correct width.
I wanted to write a review on these shoes as it is very dificult to find shoes that fit properly. First off i think these are the most comfortable and supportive shoe i have ever had bar none. There is not much break in period a couple days and they fit like a glove. I have high arches and these shoes really provide great mid support/balance. First let me give you an idea as to the sizing by comparing another shoe i wear. One of my other favorite par of jogging or on my feet 12 hours a day (WORK SHOE) is the brooks glycerin15, in version fifteen I wore a 12M. Now just to show you how shoe size changes in the current brooks glycerin17 I had to get a 12.5W (wide). Because of the changing in size of the new brooks which i do have but do not like as much as the 15 I started trying different brands. The only other brand I found which felt great were these New Ballance 1080v9 but i found New Ballance shoes run extremely tight or skinny. So for this shoe my size is a 12XW or 124E, in this size they fit and feel better than any other shoe i have ever worn. I am 40 go to the gym 5 days a week, i have had back issues for 20 years which affects my running, walking, etc. These shoes definitely help, not cure, but help me get through the day. I stand all day because i have nerve issues when I sit which cause my feet to burn like fire so I started wearing these and my glycerin17 verse work shoes while at work and when i workout and between the two of these shoes they really help me get through the day. I highly recommend them. Side note, shoe brands change the way a specific shoe fits from year to year so the only way you will know if a pair fit is to try them on. When you find a pair which fit get as many as you can afford. I just baught my second pair and plain on getting at least three or four more pairs to put away as i hate trying to find good shoes that fit and these companies dont understand the concept of if it's not broken don't fix it or change a perfect shoe!!! And one other thing when it comes to your feet dont be a cheap ASS when buying shoes and get shoes that fit properly if you plan on being on your feet when you get older, or invest in a wheelchair now. Cheers! ... show more

  • I got the extra wide
I wear a 6.5 wide and have flat feet. Shoes are so hard to find. I love these shoes. I went with the extra wide and I’m so glad that I did. I can’t stand to wear shoes that have a lot of arch support because it feels like I am walking on a rock so I am so glad that these shoes don’t feel that way. I have a little more bounce in my step. I love to run on the dirt road with big chunks of gravel and these shoes are perfect. They are stretchy and comfortable. They do not rub a blister on my heel or on the side of the widest part of my feet like some other shoes I have had have done. They don’t hurt my feet at all and are very soft on the inside with a good sole that protects my feet from the big rocks I run on. They are so beautiful. The strings are perfect length and don’t drag the ground to trip me or come untied. I recommend these shoes for people with wide flat feet who love to run. ... show more

  • Loved them just out of the box
I used to run on Brooks Glycerin and bought the 1080v9 size 8 and thought they were just for the gym. When I accidentally ran on them, I never ran on my Brooks again (although they are absolutely great). I then upgraded to the 0189v10 when they got worn, same size (8) and didn’t feel well on them but gave them a try for a short run- fit small, narrow, hurt my toes… They were just not made for me and had to sell them. I hated them. When I unboxed these 1080v11 half size larger (size 8.5), they felt just right from the beginning. I think these have a lower profile so my ankles don’t touch the shoe (never happened on my v9 but was terrible on the v10). I have not ran on them but I will update as soon as I do. I know I am going to love them because they fit just right. Now my toes don’t touch the toe box (these are half size bigger) and don’t have that hard profile on the toe box that were on the v10 and hurt my feet. I usually run 20-30mi per week and use them exclusively for running, either for short or long runs. Update 5 months later: they are my favorite running shoes. Absolutely comfortable. I use them for almost all my runs. The sole will surely be worn faster than on the v9 but there’s no option, they don’t exist so better don’t think about that and enjoy running on these. Glad I bought them half size larger. Have never felt sore not even after long runs (13mi). ... show more

  • Very comfortable...with new insoles
Like one of the other reviewers said, the insoles that are included in these are VERY thin...like I can't really believe New Balance would stake their reputation by including insoles this thin. No cushioning from them at all. That said, I didn't even try them on before putting in my own new insoles. With those inserted, these shoes are very comfortable. Lightweight. Form fitting. I went on about a 3 mile walk and had no issues at all...no break-in period required. I did notice that the laces don't really cinch up much. The eyelets keep them in place pretty firmly, so you can cinch up the last bit where you tie them, but there is no movement of the laces further down the shoe. Maybe that is a good thing for some, bad for others. These were very affordable and they look great. You will want new insoles for them to really be comfortable, though. I will update in the future if I have any change of opinion. ... show more
