    • Flexible, wide, and 4mm heel-toe offset, great shoe for walking and exercise
The shoes are great, very flexible, light, and the 4e width allows my toes to move around (the main reason I went to New Balance, and this style of toe box). I previously wore Nike Roshes, and I consider the lower heel-toe offset (4mm) of this shoe to be far superior to the huge heel in the Roshes. These shoes also have a more supportive lining underneath the mesh, this makes the material less movable but much more durable. The sole of the shoe's flexibility is very important, it allows my feet to go up and down and side to side while I do things. There seems to be some confusion in other reviews about why the sole is as flexible as it is, it is beneficial to strengthen your feet rather than have your shoe completely support your foot. I don't find the traction to be terrible, I was just walking across ice and snow today, but obviously it's not going to be super grippy since it's flat and not a lot of extra rubber. Overall the shoe works well for me to walk around university campus and run here and there, it feels great to not have my feet be cramped in super tapered shoes and my achilles be weakened by large heels. Be warned though, the material on the side of the shoe that goes up to the laces makes an awful sound when you scratch it, it doesn't bother everyone, but I try to avoid rubbing anything against it and it is never really a problem. ... show more
