  • Big Man 5 Star Review
Size: 15 X-Wide Color: Butterscotch/Deep Sea/Great Plains
5 Stars. Yes these aren’t the top of the line New Balance running shoes. They are pricy for most just wanting good shoes but these are great shoes. I am 6’8” and 270 LBS. I wear a 15 4E and that’s a 15 X-Wide for Amazon listing. I am a beginner trying to get back into shape and there are comfortable, wide toe box. Supportive and as most people mention squishy. What that spells out is lack of fatigue after each run or if you choose walk. I do 4 miles a day all terrain which include weather and snow. Now I run a slow 9 min mile but these shoes leave my diabetic (type 1) feet and lower back in good shape and not sore. There are more expensive New Balance shoes that are in my opinion elite compared to these but I really like these and when worn out I will transition them to everyday walkers for shopping and errands. Traction is good, fit is perfect, feel is comfortable, color is butterscotch and I grew to love it. They are light and breath. 5 Stars. Would buy again but only in butterscotch. Recommend highly ... show more

  • These Are Absurdly Comfortable
Ever since Hoka began to make soles of running shoes crazy thick (at least I can't think of a shoe manufacturer that did it quite that thick til after Hoka began doing it), I've noticed a lot of companies follow suit and began to make some running shoes that have an almost ridiculously thick sole that make walking and especially running an absolute joy. These Fresh Foam X Trail shoes are no different. The soles are crazy thick and probably add an additional 2" to my height (which I am perfectly okay with) and man are they comfortable. The cushion is almost too pronounced - though, not for me. If you are familiar with soles being much less sponge-like, well they're going to take a bit to get used to...but I wouldn't consider that a negative at all. Any time a pair of shoes has comfort to this degree, it's worth whatever it takes to get used to. The bottom tread is great for trails, too. I mean, they ARE trail running shoes so that really ought to be a given, but I have seen plenty of so-called trail running shoes with almost no change in the tread for off road running and that's a shame. The however, rise to the occasion and delivered some great tread wearing soles for almost any conditions. In all the photos I've seen the shoes look yellow (or at least 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙡𝙮 yellow) coloring, but seeing them in person I've noticed they are far more orange in color than yellow and boy do they stand out. If you want shoes to blend in, try a different color, otherwise I think they look wicked cool. Not everyone likes their shoes as vibrantly colored as I do so that is definitely a personal preference. What I think everyone will agree on however is that they are just absurdly comfortable. In the very best way I can mean that. I will certainly not hesitate getting another pair down the road. ***UPDATE*** To give you an idea of how much I love these shoes, I bought another pair (tan/green) less than 2 months after buying my first pair. I don't think I have ever done that with a pair of shoes before made by ANY other manufacturer. At this point, they are - easily - the 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 comfortable pair of shoes I have ever owned...and not by a small amount, either. My ONLY complaint is not for these, but the original pair I bought. The photos show it as yellow, but I can assure you, they are ORANGE, and honestly, I am not a fan of that particular color scheme. They really ought to ditch it and release an actual yellow pair which matches the photos here online...that would be a much better looking shoe to wear...but seriously, I cannot imagine a pair of shoes being much - if any - more comfortable. The soles look thick - and in truth, they ARE. And boy does that translate to your feet. If you spend a lot of time on your feet, trust me when I say these are the shoes for you. Once again, KUDOS to New Balance. ... show more

  • ❤️ love these squishy shoes!
These shoes are awesome. Most cushion I’ve ever worn, big difference from the first version of these shoes (I owned). This is the time I’ve felt like I’m walking on a cloud. I keep shifting foot to foot, just to squish the midsole for fun. Big rocker feel, so there’re best worn when ur moving. I like the orange color tops. The all white cushioned midsole is huge. It looks a little odd at first and will make u stand out. The other colorways hide the thick midsole with two colors, which I’d recommend if u want to stay subtle. Being wide though, these huge shoes stand out more then the standard narrow. That said, single-wide is so much more comfortable. ... show more

  • Almost a good trail shoe :/
Size: 10 Color: Nb Navy/Chrome Blue/Cyber Jade
So before I start my review, I’d like to say; I should’ve had the common sense to know what I was getting into before buying these shoes. These fall within the “max cushion” running shoe universe, so because of that I should’ve already known these shoes. We’re gonna have some stability issues inherently because of the foams stack height. OK now for the review: These shoes are super stylish and sexy, they’ve been easy to clean with a Clorox disinfecting wipe in my case, and because the stack height is a little higher than normal, when on hikes, dirt and debris doesn’t easily fall into your shoe as it would with a lower shoe. The shoes are also extremely comfortable with a nice roll when walking and running, and a good bounce back (something I had to get used to because I’ve mostly been use to footwear with minimal foam). Another thing that surprised me was how good the grip was on sketchy trail hikes, I was iffy about the effectiveness of the lug pattern on the sole but it shut me up as soon as I got out on a hike, it performed well on wet and dry dirt. Rocks with loose grain, uphills and downhills, so grip isn’t a question with issues. Now time for the cons: I do not recommend this shoe for hikes that involve super uneven terrain, rock scrambling, or trail runs that involve heavy use of one’s foot agility, the reason why is because these shoes have terrible stability. If you’re running on dirt paths that are nice and even and well maintained, these shoes are going to perform incredible, but the second you have to make a quick left and right turns, or run down a steep hill, or run on a path with lots of pebbles, holes, water allies, rocks, etc…. The chances of you rolling your ankle shoot up by 1000%. I personally almost rolled my ankles three times on sketchy hikes because of their lack of stability due to their stack height. Luckily I’m an avid runner and hiker so I was able to catch myself before I hurt myself, but if you’re a heavier person or out of shape, I advise you to be careful in these shoes when walking on sketchy terrain, or doing high agility activities, it’s no joke how easy it is to roll your ankles in these shoes. Overall, I’d recommend these shoes for anybody that wants a super cushioned feel for extremely easy trail runs on extremely well-kept, even trails. I wouldn’t recommend them for concrete or asphalt runs as they do kind of grip a “little too much” (it feels as though the sole lug doesn’t want to let go of the floor) or technical trails as they lack essential stability. ... show more
