If you don't know your strike/pronation, look at a pair of worn running shoes. Not shoes that you comingle walking/running because gait and stride is different running. I'm a runner on a USATF Senior Division team and compete with spikes(4s) and running flats(8s & 1500s). The team trains MWF running intervals with little rest. To protect aging cartilage and joints a cushioned trainer is needed. In fact if you plan to run for a long time training w/cushioned shoes is a good idea, save the light weight minimalist shoes for racing. These 1080s do a cushion impact better than XXXX(rhymes with Ricks) Cumulus that I had been using as a trainer. The only reason I cut 1 star from the rating is that while standing the heel design has a underpronation pitch. No big deal for forefoot strikers, not using much heel. If bothersome easily corrected with heel inserts. Shoe manufactures know that most runners overpronate so they build some underpronation into the shoe.
