Formerly, I wore the 857V2 until NB stopped production. I need a stability shoe to counteract over-pronation. As a general comparison, the heel cups are slightly wider/looser than my Saucony running shoes, but that is great for being at work. If stability is important to you, that is a meaningful factor. These V3s feel a bit more plush than the V2 while still offering solid stability. Good cushioning: after over two and a half months, I do feel a bit of compression in the sole, but nothing that causes pain. I would expect three months or more on these, which is good for my use. I purchased the black shoes for a work environment that includes essentially all day on concrete and asphalt with exposure to wet and lightly oily floors 5-6 days per week. They are slip resistant. Just yesterday I came to work on a day off in other shoes (long story) and noticed a substantial benefit of the slip resistance when I switched into the V3. A co-worker with a sense of humor calls them my "Dad 5000" shoes. He wears work boots which are not right for me, given what I do and how I have to appear. The NBs are a great balance, though I would never wear them as a dress shoe or even as business casual footwear. The price is on par with others in this category. These have a good fit and excellent stability. There is a small support in the heel that really helps. They have the typical New Balance quality. I use them for exercise/gym work and they are very supportive. I'm very pleased with these.

Comfy, but for the price, longevity isn’t good. Footbed lasts about 6-8 months then they’re worn and need replacement.

I have been wearing New Balance shoes for 12 years now. I always buy the same size, 11 1/2 Wide. I decide I wanted a little bit larger size so I ordered the 12 Wide. I have worn NB 608's for years, but I have put on a few extra pounds lately and have developed a bone spur in my heel. Because I added extra extra heel cushions for the spur (I suppose), my 608's with a tapered/pointed toe started pinching my big toes. My getting older may have contributed to this also, as I am now shuffling around more than I used to. The NB 857's are an answer to my prayers. They have a wider, more rounded toe and have additional cushioning, too. Comfortable walking that I haven't felt in a while. My wife is buying me another pair for Christmas - just to have on hand. These sneakers are a perfect fit with factory-supplied arch supports worth $150 when purchased separately. Salespersons in an authentic New Balance store used science and math to size my foot, check for pressure points and finally convince the old guy to purchase the size 4E toe width he really needed. This superb quality before and after the sale resulted in the purchase of enough pairs to last for... well who knows. One pair for comfort food, one pair for training with my cross ropes, two pair in the bank, and an old pair for boating and beach walks.
