My son wears a sized 16 shoe, which means that it is difficult to find shoes in his size; especially since he is so limited in his choice of styles. They are great for very wide feet, and provide sturdiness and comfort. He gets at least a year of wear and tear, before I have to order another pair.

The New Balance 608 appears to be very well made with leather uppers and a cushiony sole. I measure as a 9 1/2 wide so that is what I ordered. My big toe is right against the front of the shoe and the taper of the front is tight on the rest of the toes. I will return this pair and replace with a size 10 wide. ... show more

The good: I like the way they fit and the way they feel. That's why I keep ordering them ... even with their not-so-good aspects. The not so good: - The laces stretch a lot with use. They stretch so much that, even double-knotting them, they get so long that they drag on the ground and can get caught in brake and clutch pedals. Yes, I trim them, and then the cut ends fray. - The rubber material for the black rubber of the soles is not very durable. It's soft and, depending on the usage, either separates from the foam after about 6 months or wears through. That said, I keep ordering them because I like how they feel. ... show more

These shoes are VERY comfortable. I did have to lace the top last lace as the shoe was dropping in the heal just a bid....enough to lightly scuff the floor as I walked. (Only issue) I work as a security guard for a MASSIVE manufacturing plant with 10 large (Walmart size) buildings with multiple floors. I cover all floors and all buildings a day. This amounts to around 24,000 steps or just over 10-12 miles each day. They are holding up just fine. I walk 80 miles every two weeks, 160 miles a month. These have been a great foot fatigue saver. We will see how they hold up under such high usage. 95% is indoor (carpet or polished cement) use. At almost 74, I appreciate the sturdiness and yet cushion of these shoes. I’ve worn these same sneakers for decades and they are always so very comfortable and fit very well right out of the box. The trick is to loosen the laces right down to the bottom, put them on and then tighten the laces to your comfort level and don’t put the lace through the top lace hole so it doesn’t press on your ankle.
