This is probably the third or fourth pair of these shoes I have bought from New Balance. The numbers have changed slightly but the same type of shoe. Fit is consistent over the years. They wear well and are comfortable for walking or working out at gym.

The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because this is a second-hand review - if I was wearing them and knew personally how they felt, I might give them 5 stars. They look good and cost less than I expect a leather shoe to cost. They were a birthday gift to my husband who usually wears athletic shoes (NB, of course). His first reaction was "wow, what did you pay for them?" He likes these 608s and says they are comfortable, the 9-1/2 fits just the way they should, he's worn them on our 2-mile walk every day since he got them on Jan 28 with no complaints. ... show more

I have purchased several pairs of New Balance casual shoes over the years. I have never been disappointed with the quality of manufacturing or the fit. These shoes are comfortable and well made. I have swapped out the original insert with one designed to aid with plantar fasciitis. I know they will last me for years, the others did. This is my 2nd pair. I walk everyday, wet or dry. These have good traction on wet asphalt and small stones. They last a long time. I love the green-gray color. The extra wide saves my small toe. Someone said this had memory foam. I don't think so. Its EVA on the sole. It has a touch of fluidity, but is a conventional foam. I had memory foam sneakers. They were hot in the summer, and felt squishy with every step. Memory foam is made from petroleum products and may contain formaldehyde. In 2023 the EPA is banning formaldehyde exposure for kids. Hopefully they'll get it out of their sneakers. My size was out of stock for a long time. Many months. Had to buy a Monarch. They feel as good as the Monarch Air IV for cushioning, and are less slippery on wet surfaces than the monarchs. When you wear a Monarch, they stick out like sore thumbs. Too bright and bold.
