A you probably already know, New Balance makes many different models of cross trainers and walking shoes, but relatively few of them are available in a 2E or "wide" width. It can also be difficult finding any athletic shoes that are conservative enough to wear with casual business attire. Conservative in the sense of the word that they come relatively unadorned by flashy trim which adds nothing to the comfort or the performance of the shoe. Also worth mentioning here is the little bit of extra padded support under and around the ankle bone. This can make an enormous difference when you are required to do a great deal of walking, such as sight-seeing (think theme parks), or even just everyday shopping (home improvement centers and department stores). Finally, if you do not employ these shoes on a motorized treadmill, which are notorious for wearing out shoes prematurely, you may be pleasantly surprised to discover just exactly how long they last.

Have been using this sneaker for many years for daily walks. They are comfortable and the upper portion is durable. However, the heal significantly wears out in less than a year requiring purchase of a new pair once/year.

Recent purchases of NB shoes have not measured up in quality to those I've purchased in the past. The most annoying flaw has been the tongue which was too short and tying the knot ended up on my foot instead of the tongue. The tongue on this shoe is well done.

I wanted to love these shoes, rated for diabetics and Medicare. I just assumed they would be very comfortable. They were fantastic for walking and standing but while sitting the soles of my feet killed; very achy. This is not true with my Birkenstock shoes, so I know it is something in the design of these New Balance shoes. Noisy shoes are a pet peeve of mine; the soles of these shoes proved to be silent on carpet, tile, marble, wood and concrete, but the insoles creaked. If I had kept the shoes I would have pulled out the insoles (very easy to do) and replaced them. These are great shoes except when sitting down, I would have loved to have kept them, but I had to return them because of the foot pain. I have flat arches and weigh almost 400 pounds, I bought size 14 regular and they were a very nice fit. Made in Vietnam.
