  • Good quality walking shoe
Size: 8 X-Wide Color: Black/Black
I’ve had these shoes for a while. They are very comfortable and the perfect size for my custom made braces to fit in them. The shoes are also easy to put on because of the Velcro fasteners. The Velcro is holding up fine. The bottom of the shoes are not the easiest to keep clean. Little bits of food or gravel can stuck in the crevices. I use a nail file to get the pieces out. However, I still recommend these shoes, especially if one has brace to put into the shoe. The sole is removable. ... show more

  • Good quality and comfortable

  • Nice fit for those with swollen feet
Size: 9 X-Wide Color: White/White
Very comfortable fit. For men with swollen ankles/feet, the extra wide size is recommended. The straps are difficult to fasten since the Velcro straps are short. After wearing them for a few hours, the shoes will adapt to your feet, ensuring a comfortable stride and support for swollen ankles.

  • Would buy again, but probably won't have to
Size: 10.5 Wide Color: Black/Black
Easy to get on and off, which was important for me following extended hospital stays and extremely limited mobility. I'm in my 30s but following a coma, experienced regular swelling, drop foot, and neuropathy in my right foot. This shoe has been easy to manage, easy to fit an orthotic in, and although black, isn't terribly hot it 100° plus weather. While I'm not out running marathons, I have put the shoes to good use over the last year and they still look to have a lot of life (and tread) left in them. Very comfortable as well, even with an orthotic shoved in. They do show dirt easily, as seen in the photo. They clean off well enough, but I'm not too particular about it living in the desert haha. Lots of life left in them and don't see myself needing to replace in the near future. ... show more

  • After a LONG search I found just what my Father needed.
Size: 9.5 X-Wide Color: Bone/Bone
My Father has Dementia, Diabetes and Size 9 EEEE bad , hurt all the time hurts when you barely touch them feet and toes. Have been putting Merrell Velcro strap sandals (with socks because his feet look so bad) on him for two + years. Decided to try a shoe again because they are just safer and a more stable walking base for him. His instep is very high - hard to find shoes with a velcro strap closure long enough to accommodate his needs - these barely are long enough to stay connected because I cannot fasten them tightly or he complains of pain. These are all issues relative to his particular needs; however, if you have super wide fat feet, have feet /toe pain related to illness and need a shoe easy to put on and take off this is a great shoe. I searched for months for an X Tra Wide shoe that would work - without having to spend hundreds on a Disbetic shoe. I also love the neutral color I was able to choose. This most likely is his last pair of new shoes. They Are well made leather somwill last and look nice with everything he wears. He complains of pain with every step but he did that wearing sandals as well but keeps on going walking. I feel,he is safer taking those walks now. ... show more

  • What is the point of sizes if they don't mean anything?
Size: 12 X-Wide Color: Black/Black
I have worn the NB MX608 through several versions for many years. I found this was a shoe that fit me and was comfortable. I have a wide foot and I have gout. So when I find something that works, I stick with it. I found the shoe about 5 years ago shopping on vacation and was delighted with it. So when I got back home (we don't have the extensive footwear stores here - Payless, Wal*mart - and various poorly stocked sporting goods or department stores. Forget finding a specific style in multiple widths.) I looked it up on Amazon. Hallelujah they had it! I have replaced this shoe many times through Amazon without incident. This time, they had gone to the (my last order was a v3) v4. When I first looked it up, I found the black/black listing and they didn't have 12 4E, or hardly any other size (I think there were only 3 or 4 sizes listed) so I figured they might be phasing it out. So I searched for "black leather New Balance" size 12 width 4E and this was one of the options I found. I thought the velco straps might be handy (I had previously used the Wally World cheapo shoes with the velcro straps and although they are nothing great, the wide ones would get me by in a pinch). I ordered these. I received them. I tried one on. It is tiny. I figured they pulled the wrong size, so I looked on the box. Says 12 4E. Ok maybe the factory messed up and put the wrong shoe in the box. I looked on the label. It says 12 4E. I tried it on again - maybe the bottom had folded or something. Nope tighter than most D shoes. So I got out a caliper and measured the shoes to see if it was just my imagination. Now I know leather shoes stretch over time, but their soles don't. I measured the maximum width of the sole where the leather joins it. On the MX608 it was 4.685" on the MW577 it was 4.420". That is a difference of 0.265" - over a quarter inch. (For a real idea of how much of a difference this is, take a pair of shoes that fits comfortably and put 4 quarters side by side alongside your foot.) Measuring the sole itself (this is more error prone since some soles taper out more than others but on these two shoes, they look pretty close) I measured 4.935" on the MX608 and 4.600" on the MW577. That is a difference of 0.335". I realize that there is no exact size descriptions in the shoe industry, but I would expect that shoes of a similar style from the same manufacturer would not be off my this much. The good news - Amazon is awesome and they will take them back. I found another listing for the MX608V4 in Black that has the 4E size and ordered it. I don't expect any problems as I went from the original to the V2 to the V3 with no change in fit so I expect the V4 to be fine. ... show more

  • Velcro straps could be a bit longer.
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: White/White
Nice fit, very comfortable, look great. I dropped it down to a three because the Velcro straps are not long enough for my very wide feet.

  • Good high quality shoes
Size: 10.5 Color: Bone/Bone
Got these for a family member who has swelling in their feet and needs something easier to adjust than laces. Fits them well and is true to size.
