This New Balance shoe is the best for me and the neuropathy I suffer in my left foot and lower leg. I've tried others, even with the comfort insoles, but it's the New Balance that offers me the most comfort. I literally wore out my last pair my daughter had purchased for me, and they had no rips, no tears, no glue separation anywhere, just a slick sole and now a broken down insole. With so many model numbers to choose from I wasn't certain what my model number was and had to rely on my daughter's memory, which happened to be the older version of these, Model 481. I swear I almost heard my left foot go, "Ahhhh" when I put these on and tied them up. These are the newer 481-All Terrain, with a memory foam insole, and a cushioned heel. It's almost someone at New Balance new exactly what type of shoe I needed, because here it is!! Very comfortable and I can wear these all day long without wincing in pain halfway thru the day. I can no longer walk as long or as far as I used to, but at least now I can walk a lot further than I did in those other shoes I've tried. I have worn New Balance shoes for years, and these are really nice. I put a pair of new insoles in them, and they still fit just right. I would recommend getting a slightly wider shoe if you plan on using a different insole, however. I think if I had gotten one width smaller, I wouldn’t be writing this nice review. Anyway, they offer good traction and balance, and this is important for a bigger dude like me (6 foot 2, about 230 pounds). Recommended. ... show more

I have been looking for a tennis shoe that doesn't crowd my toes. I have bought wide shoes before, and still my toes were crowded in the toe box. These shoes fit perfectly, and my toes are more comfortable than ever before.

Had good luck with the brown color. Lasted 3 years including a month in the Philippines getting wet on the beaches and climbing volcanos. Too soon to tell with this blue color combo. Like to think its the fabric not the colors

    • New Balance Cross-trainers Are the Best “Old Man Shoes” Ever
Size: 10.5 X-Wide Color: Team Away Grey/Magnet/Black
These are some of the most comfortable cross-trainers I have ever walked in. However, I have a tracking number for the return at a UPS Store, but it does not seem to have shipped on October 29, 2022 at 11:39 AM. Otherwise, great experience!

I wish they came in wider sizes but after a day or so they broke in pretty well. Not sure how long they’ll last yet. They do look and feel great.

    • Arch support lacking in shoe but may be design decision
These shoes are not like normal walking and running shoes. This may be because they market these as trail shoes but the first thing I noticed when wearing them was your weight will be shifted toward the toe/front of the shoes. There is very little arch support. I will say that when wearing these on gravel/sand trails that are on uneven surfaces they do perform better than traditional shoes but be aware that these are not suited for doing long walks or runs on normal sidewalks and tracks. ... show more

The width isn’t as good as the website said it was, I do still however find it comfortable. Another improvement would be to cushion the toe a bit more, and longer thicker laces. Other then that I still enjoy the shoe.
