This was a Christmas gift for my 7 year old. We like to have nerf wars every once and a while and this shotgun was a great addition. Pro: It has a very powerful shot. Con: it only holds one dart at a time, so load quickly!

This thing shoots darts larger than the normal elite darts for reference and fires them faster than any nerf gun I've ever used. Only downsides are that you have to manually load every shot and there isn't a place to store the extra rounds on the gun.

The name and description "pump-action" is EXTREMELY misleading. In a normal pump-action shotgun you can load at least 4 or 5 shells into the magazine tube, and then operate the pump mechanism back and forth between shots to chamber a new round each time. This "pump-action" gun requires 5 or 6 steps to re-chamber every single new round, making this completely non-viable in a Nerf (TM) fight, and likely angering whichever kid is stuck with this P.O.S. to rage-quit after the first round, and come out of it with the emotional impression that pump shotguns are complete useless garbage in general. 1.) Pull the pump action backwards. 2.) Manually reach over to pull back the cover and access the chamber (on a real shotgun, this happens automatically with step 1) 3.) Reach into your pocket or wherever else you've stuffed your darts and grab one 4.) Stick the dart into the chamber to "breech-load" 5.) Wiggle the dart around to ensure it fits snugly on 6.) Push the pump action forward 7.) Aim 8.) Fire 9.) Repeat steps 1 through 8 for EVERY SINGLE SHOT (might as well just hold the darts in your hand and throw them at the other team like tiny footballs) I am by no means a Nerf connoisseur, but this is by far the most horribly-designed Nerf gun I have ever seen in my life. I could never even conceive of something this horrible and irrational ever existing. If you could just stuff the dart in through the muzzle directly and shoot it from there like in colonial and pirate times (as in, the absolute most primitive guns that have ever been widely used in human history), then even that would be several times quicker and more efficient to re-chamber than this piece of garbage.

It looks cool. That's the best part. There is nowhere to store more darts. Big darts for small hands. You work the action back, which opens the panel to load. You really have to work the dart back into it to get a good shot. You have to close the panel yourself. It doesn't shut when sliding the pump forward. Pro: Looks, ease of pump action Con: Single shot, tricky load, gimmicky
