This began as an unusual answer to a collection of family pieces that have sadly continued to grow. As the family holder of memories, I have put meaningful pieces in jewelry bags, zip-closure sandwich bags, plastic disposable snap-closed dishes, and sliding jewelry trays. Each step had its pitfalls that overwhelm the cons. Stuffed in bags we do not see or think about or use the items. Plastic bags were flimsy and provided no protection from anything other than dust. Plastic ware allowed too much movement and caused more damage in addition to taking up too much space. Finally, the trays were uncovered, dust and build-up were undesirable. This appears to be a better solution to an ongoing issue. The book is smaller than imagined, even having read the sizes, but seems handleable. The additional bags were immediately beneficial and put to use with stragglers tossed together in a bunch. With the holidays among us, the family loves to reminisce. I have printed names and information for pages and sections, even event and some value information. My sweet, wonderful grandmother retired after 45 years on the job and her charm and the dainty watch have special notes included right behind the items. Dad's wedding ring and a service tie tack that honors his 43 years at the same company are preserved and labeled, something that was missing in the previous attempts. My children and cousins will see their grandmother's love of costume jewelry and the significance she placed on her faith. My other wonderful grandmother won numerous charms, pins, medals, and awards that are now clearly labeled and preserved. Since I have tried so many options, I will say that I have had a con or two arise. Some items are a bit larger than the slots allow and thickness builds much faster than I can fill the pages. Bulk does seem to be the biggest hurdle from a perfect review, I may need an empty additional notebook to use all of the pockets that do not fit in the zippered container. So far, this lovely, transportable book has great advantages in storing our family memories. I can see which vintage pin looks best with my scarf without digging, juggling, or damaging things around it. When my sister calls and has an event, I have that pair of earrings to meet and hand over. The slots also allow me a place to slide in and write which member of the family has temporary custody and when it was used. All in all, this solution to a long held problem has already made an improvement.
