Effective. However, the snoot does get hot to the touch if you use it with a continuous source like an Aputure 120d. Would recommend wearing gloves when operating with the snoot. And not to use the gels included that are meant to be wedge into the inside. Instead, tape or clamp a gel outside the snoot end with an opening to allow airflow to not overheat your light fixture and burn your gel. ... show more

The conical snoot is a simple yet effective manner to direct light from a monolight into a small pattern on your subject. The device is metal, which is important for durability, especially if a modeling light is used. When the device arrives, it was a little confusing because the filters and grid are fitted onto the end of the snoot which initially made me think that they were not shipped. Be aware that this snoot eats a lot of light due to the black interior thus if using it with a speedlite, you can quickly be at full power, particularly when using one of the gels (and full power is not enough when combining gels so I wouldn't recommend that unless you want a VERY subtle colored light). ... show more

I don't know why there is a star rating for "Brightness" on something that doesn't create light but if you're expecting this to turn your flash into a spotlight, it will not. This is a simple durable snoot that will shape your light for more select illumination. The included grid will tighten the spot and give it a more defined edge,color effect gels are effective but a heavier material would be easier to handle and more durable but the distance form your flash tube also allows you to use any gels you want. ... show more

While others have stated that the final end would slip off. I found it to be quite snug and would hold the honeycomb in place well. It fits on the S-Type Bracket (Bowens Mount Holder) for my speedlight. Testing shows that it does exactly as described and designed. Without the honeycomb and final piece installed, the snoot still narrows down the light very evenly. Want really tight light?...then just add the honeycomb and final piece. My only negative is that the colored filters are quite thin and flimsy making them a bit of a pain to install when on site and in the middle of the shoot. Otherwise. Great tool. ... show more
