I ordered this set of different chains to use to hang stained glass panels and suncatchers. It is perfect for this! I love the different styles and widths, which makes it useful for a lot of different sizes and types of stained glass projects. I do think some of these would be a bit large for jewelry-making -- I do make necklaces and such with some of my glass, and I really would only use the two smallest sizes for necklace chain I think, although depending on what you are making this might fit your needs. It’s great that it comes with jump rings and clasps and such -- I often make my own jump rings, but pre-made options are nice to have available. There are also a few metal charms in the set, so you can put together a few necklaces right away if you want to. There isn’t a lot of length on the wider chains, but still, there’s enough for several projects, and the smaller chains have more length on the spool. This is a great set to get if you want to try out several different types of chain or if you want a variety available for projects. I am happy with it. ... show more

I would give this set 3.5 stars if I could. I was genuinely conflicted about how to rate this set, so I'll give the benefit of 4 stars. This is an okay starter set with a little bit of variability among the silver-colored chains. The quality is probably better than what I might expect for the price. The biggest frustration I have is that the length is so variable on these. In the photo above, I have them laid out across the foot of my king-size bed. As you can see, some of them are about three times the length of the others. I'm disappointed that I can't create a jewelry set out of the chain I like the most. ... show more

This is a nice beginners selection of mixed chain. Some of the lengths are fairly short; for instance you only get 3 feet of the chain with the large oval links which is enough for 1 long or 2 short necklaces. My girlfriend used the chain to make make mixed chain over the ear cuffs as pictured, so a variety of light mixed chains were perfect for her. Depending on the cuff style, she uses 2 to 4 inches of chain, so 3 feet will make quite a few. The charms and findings are basically a bonus item for her. This is a neat idea, but it’s really more for fixing chains than it is for creating new pieces. A few of the chains have a nice length to them, but about half of them are just a few feet long. They just filled up a small spool of each, so the thicker or bulkier the chain, the less you get. The price is right though, and they tell you how much you’re getting up front. I really like the chains, but the little charms and stuff that came with it are pretty useless. All in all, for repairing necklaces, this is an awesome thing to have around. Very inexpensive too. This set of findings for jewelry-making includes chains in eight link sizes, each wound around a small plastic reel. This equates different lengths for the different size chains; nearly 10’ for the smallest, and only just over 3’ for the largest. The set also includes approximately fifty 5mm jump rings, fifty 6mm jump rings, twenty 6x8mm pinch clip clasps, five 9x11mm pinch clip clasps, and thirty lobster clasps. It also includes five assorted pendants. All pieces in the set are silver in color. I don’t know what metal they are made of, but it’s not silver. It’s something lightweight. This set of components should be good for beginners, kids, and/or anyone who wants to have some fun with basic jewelry construction. ... show more

It’s a nice assortment of chains but they aren’t going to last very long. The finish will definitely dull after a lot of use in jewelry. I didn’t get these for jewelry but for home decor projects. You get what you pay for in jewelry components!
