After loosing 2 pearl earrings ( on separate occasions) I learned, the expensive way, that you can’t buy just one earring to replace the lost earring. So each time I lost an earring I had to buy another pair so I had a “pair.” Needless to say I now, hopefully, have a lifetime supply of lovely pearl earrings. If you are concerned about loosing your diamond studs, or sapphire dangles, splurge and purchase these backs. You will not loose another earring. After wearing for a long time the plastic part sometimes breaks, but it takes a long time for that to happen. I actually keep an extra pair as back up! It’s less expensive than buying a new pair of real pearl earrings.

I purchased these backs because I needed a flat disk to hold my earrings up due to droopy hole. They are perfect to hold things up but even better they are really secure. I just ordered another set for my diamond studs which had annoying screw backs. You have to pinch these to get them off the earring so no risk of them coming loose on their own. I am allergic to anything that is not real gold or platinum so that made these stand out over less expensive flat back versions.

I’m hoping these last a long time because I love them. I used these with a set of earrings that have threads so you can twist and screw the earring back on however there is no lift to the back so I used this and lost an earring the first day, still looking for my earring. But when I use these on regular earrings with regular indentation then the locking mechanism works great. None of these different types of locking earring backs are that easy to apply but well worth the time to use.

It may seem a bit crazy to spend this kind of money for earring backs, but I did and it was worth it! I have a pair of large pearl stud earrings that have a super thin gold post. I've had them for years and love them because the extra large size makes them look very contemporary compared to small pearl studs, yet still business-like or conservative enough for work or a dressy or formal affair. I lost the original backs several years ago and have never found a back secure enough to hold the small diameter posts securely, and have almost lost them multiple times. The Chrysmela PushUp Earring Back locks securely onto the super thin post. I don't know how it does it, but it does. To release the earring back, you simply slip your fingernail under the little ridge in the back and it unlocks the earring. Easy to figure out, just practice once or twice with the earring in your hand. The plastic disc back also pushes the earring up (as the name suggests) so the large pearl doesn't droop on the earlobe. The price may bother people and I get it. But if you divide it by the cost per wear, or more importantly, the cost of losing a valuable or highly sentimental earring, it is very much worth it. I am super happy with this purchase and recommend the product.

I have used the backs on my diamond screw-back earrings several times now, and they work fine. I tested them on regular posts also, and I think they would work fine although with enough of a pull, they will slide backward. The instructions said not to do that because it could damage the springs, but how else can you test them? If there is an indention in the post, they will seat there and not continue to slide backward. I know the backs will damage the threads on my screw posts, but I'm ok with that. I had lost one of the screw backs, but thankfully not the earring. This is a nice design and I really like the plastic support that came with it. If I never lose another earring, especially the diamond ones, it will be $50 well spent! UPDATE: This is a really great product! I have now had them for 3 years and have never come close to losing an earring. I had a small issue recently (didn't affect function), so I messaged the company and they replied very quickly and resolved the issue. A great product and great customer service. So glad I purchased these! Thank you, Chrysmela!!
